BEFORE TALKING ABOUT THE COPYRIGHT ISSUES:
"I've read nearly all of the comments that people have posted in regards to the "copyright" issues on this artwork, and it's basically stupid that you all keep going on and on about it, I think that one contribution is enough. You shouldn't practically lurk on this page to see if anyone disregards copyrighting... If you look close enough, there's probably only at most 50 icons actually there, they're all repeated... and I even saw a Mona Lisa icon... Is someone going to start going "Think of the copyright laws on the Mona Lisa!" ? The Mona Lisa has been reproduced so many times, and people are sitting here complaining about some guy using just 50 icons without permission? Come on. Seriously, it's not an internationalcrisis."

Very good, I love this!
Zoomed out you can get a better perspective of who it is, but zoomed in the icons are very distracting and somewhat out of place but it's still very good.
and in regards to copyright, as long as credit is given to users in general and dA, it should be fine.

I love it! I have made similar collages to this one, but nothing quite as complex or epic. This would also make for one expertly difficult jigsaw puzzle.

Art is great no words for that but DA should go overhaul about copyrights,respect and mature.
A tip people wouldnt say bad things if this was a monalisa or your own picture problem here is you cannot know what ever people wanna be part of politic or not.So I really want a new art like this but not politic or sensetive matter.

I really don't think you need that unless they made the icons themselves and next to that you're not stating the icons are all yours, so I don't see a problem '^^

Since I really don't have time to sift through all the copyright arguments, I was just wondering what program you used to make this? Did you place each picture in there individually? I'm trying to do something similar to this for a self-portrait art project and I'm not sure what this type of technique is called. Any info would be helpful!

the technique is Photo Mosaic, there are a lot of beggining softwarte out there for like fifty bucks.
