Description The 84 foot tall oil derrick "Little Sister" stands along the Ohio River in Sistersville, WV. In the early 20th century Sistersville had more millionaires per capita than any town in the USA due to the oil fields.

I wonder? Maybe

I guess maybe that could have happened, although historically wealthy entrepreneurs and corporations raped the state and I don't know of any real life Clampett stories. There was one guy in the 1940's who took his family into town, bought them new shoes and the a meal at a restaurant. He told his wife, "Some suckers gave me $300 for the right to dig under our farm." Since then there's been billions of dollars of coal taken out of that farm.

if she's the little sister how big is the big sister? Nice shot Tim! I too love B&W & I've been converting many of my shots lately to how they look. Iรงe also been shooting in monochrome. There's just so much more depth to some shots when they're in B&W

Thanks The historical marker tells about Big Sister. I'll have to go back and read it.

You're making me fall in love all over again! With Black and White that is!

You'd better be adding this to the book you're working on for the area. This is great history.

Thanks! I have to be in the right mood, and there's not a lot of color in the landscape right now. But i do love BW
