Description My graduation work was a set of jewellery consisting a necklace and a bracelet. Further photos of completed work have been posted later.

This is the first part completed for my graduation work, the locking device for the necklace. A completely functional padlock, made of silver.

The operation is about as simple as padlock with a key gets, the bit turns around and pushes the hasp that holds the hinged shackle. There's also a simple ward, which is more for aesthatics than security, as wards are very weak anti-lockpicking means. Overall it can't be opened with bare hands but twisted hairpin is enough to pick it. The purpose of this kind of lock is of course more symbolic in nature than a true security device.

Overall width is 21,5 mm, height 35,5 mm and thickness (excepting rivets) 6,5 mm. There are small stainless steel pieces soldered to the tips of the hasp and shackle and the spring is 0,25 mm piano wire. Otherwise completely 925 sterling silver.

Hi! I'm just trying to figure out for myself how to make a functional lock and I was wondering if you could tell me where the spring is located and how you got it to work.

Hi, and sorry for the delayed response.

The spring is located in the far right, twisted around one of the rivets. The ends go into the small tubes soldered to the hasp and the lock casing.
