Description Flying through the streets faster than he ever thought possible, Miles scanned each and every movement for the sight of his brother. It had been so long, two years, since he last saw him, and through these events he dared not to try to understand, he saw him again, and he wasn't going to let that slip away.

"Daniel!" he screamed, certainly waking some people up, but they'd get over it.

He honed his ears on the smallest sounds as he kept running, filtering out the noises of his shoes pounding against the street, the birds chirping in the sky or his heart pounding through his chest.

He blew by an allyway too quick to even recognize what was in it, but something forced him to turn around. He didn't know what, but he couldn't just ignore his instincts at a time like this, so upon reaching the ally, he scanned it, still not seeing anything. Though he caught the sight of a black clothed figure dash by, one frighteningly like the one Miles just fought…and more importantly, the ones that ran after Daniel.

For a second he sprinted as fast as he could after the figure, but something in his mind told him that could be a bad idea. He wasn't sure how he managed to beat the other one, and if Daniel was in trouble, he didn't want to do anything to make it worse. Miles knew that if he could sneak up on this person though, he could knock him out easily. He kept running, slowing down slightly to make his foot steps less noticeable. Part of him wanting to scream out again, to let Daniel know he was coming, but he'd have plenty of time for that later.

Unless…

No.

That option did not exist. He'd find Daniel; they'd both be all right, and take down anyone who got in there way.

Miles swallowed a lump in his throat banishing any doubt.

He kept running, praying, hoping, believing, with sweat dripping from his body and blood dripping form his wounds as he demanded his body moved faster.

Finally, he emerged from the ally, the sunlight striking his eyes once again, temporarily blinding him. Though, through blurred vision he saw him. Slumped on the ground, and obviously hurt pretty badly, Daniel looked up at his brother.

"Hey," the younger twin said weakly.

"Daniel!"

Miles ran over to his brother, noticing the two black clothed men laying on the ground unconscious and bleeding. He had a thousand questions, but pushed all those away for the time being. Later, when things had calmed down, he'd find out what was going on. For now though, he had to make sure Daniel was okay.

He leaned down beside Daniel, and his brother's condition really hit him. Daniel was wearing an old, stained white t-shirt with one of the sleeves torn off, some old black gym shorts, and shoes that were held together by duct tape. Daniel also had numerous scratches along his body, some of them new that were still bleeding.

"What happened to you?" Miles asked. Last he heard, Daniel was being taken with his family to Colorado, being adopted by some scientists or something.

"Long story." Daniel leaned his head against the tall building, and closed his eyes, his heavy breaths evidence of his struggle.

Miles couldn't begin to imagine what happened to him, the pain he must have gone through.

Daniel opened his eyes again, and smiled slightly, though cringed at the same time. "It's good to see you though. I was afraid when I only saw two of them chase me that something could have happened to you."

Miles looked behind him and noticed the two guys on the ground again. He found it strange that Daniel could take them down like that, he never was one to get into fights, and those two were a lot bigger than him, and he knew at least one of them had a gun.

"Don't worry I'm fine."

In reality, that battle with that guy did rough him up a bit, but Miles couldn't complain about the minor pain at a time like this. Sure, he'd need to wrap his leg up and take it easy for a few days, but that was beside the point.

"What do you say you come back to my house for a while and you tell me what's going on."

Daniel smiled. "That sounds good."

Miles got up and looked behind him, seeing his brother still leaning against the wall. "Can you walk?"

"Yeah, I should be fine. Just hard to take in that I actually made it here."

Daniel pushed off against the wall and struggled back to his feet, while Miles held him making sure he didn't fall over. He'd never seen his brother so weak, so tired. He could see it in Daniel's eyes, heavy bags over them, barely able to stay open. Those weren't the bright eyes of the ever-curious brother he once knew.

"Okay, let's go." Daniel said as he took several steps forward, limping heavily on his left leg, the once that appeared to be the most injured.

Miles stood back for a second, staring at his twin, not able to move, but just stare, his mind unable to fathom how much Daniel had changed. The brother he knew had next to no pain tolerance, complaining about the smallest injury. But now…

"Where are we going?"

"Oh, sorry, this way," Miles said as he took the lead. He had gotten so turned around trying to find his brother, that he had to check several street signs to figure out where they were. After regaining his bearings, he saw he had somehow ran over two miles trying to find Daniel. He should have been a lot tireder, but for some reason, felt nothing from that. He knew he had built up some stamina through his time on the basketball team, but something was definitely off.

Miles knew that they had to get back soon, but his curiosity got the best of him and he asked Daniel, "Where have you been?"

"More places than I'd like to remember. Let me just tell you this, that wasn't the first time I've killed a person."

Miles thought for a second. He didn't think those two guys were dead…after all, his brother would never do that. He couldn't kill someone. He just assumed Daniel knocked them out, but nothing more.

Though looking at the two on the ground…those bodies did seem awfully still to be alive.

Miles shook his head, trying to forget the sight.

"Impressive," a stranger said as he gazed upon the twins and their fallen enemies. He appeared to be a few years older than the twins, gelled black hair, clothed in a blue t-shirt and jeans.

"Run," Daniel hastily demanded.

"You know him?"

Miles moved himself in front of Daniel, making sure that his brother would be protected. If anything else happened to Daniel, Miles wouldn't forgive himself. And he had a hunch that this guy, as harmless as he appeared, had something to do with those other three.

"Just run," Daniel demanded, "He can kill you without even breaking a sweet."

"But what about-"

"He won't kill me."

"But I can't-"

"Trust me."

Miles gazed forward, eyeing the man that so easily frightened, his brother, and swallowed deeply. He knew Daniel understood this better, and if he was smart, he'd take his brother's advice and run.

But he never was that smart.

And he wasn't one to run from a fight.

"Who are you?" Miles demanded.

"What are you doing!" Daniel screamed.

"My name is Trey."

"Were you with those guys?" Miles pointed to the corpse behind him and glared angrily at Trey. He felt his hands shaking, his body ready to go off on this guy if he tried anything.

"Yes, and I must say, I never thought they'd be killed by you." Trey looked past Miles, to Daniel. "You've improved."

Not giving Trey a chance to hurt either of them, Miles ran at him, balled his palm into a fist and aimed it right for his face.

Though his wrist was caught, Miles not even seeing his opponent move.

"So, it runs in the family," Trey said as a smile grew across his face. "Very interesting."

Not caring what Trey meant by that, Miles launched his other fist at his enemy, but swung at only thin air as Trey now stood at least three feet away.

He blinked, trying to figure out how he missed, but before he reopened his eyes, his back erupted in pain, and as his eyes opened, he realized he was laying on the ground, Trey's hand against his chest holding him down.

Miles struggled to get up, his arms and legs flailing, but the force was too great, he couldn't move.

"You're weak." Trey spat on the ground, inches from Miles face. "You think you're a hero protecting your twin like that. Let me tell you something, I could kill him and you could nothing but lie there and watch." Trey pulled out a gun and aimed it in Daniel's direction.

"Remember this. Until you can actually protect someone, don't be a hero. That is, unless you want to die of course."

Trey stepped back, letting Miles get back to his feet, though too afraid to do anything else.

Daniel stood beside his shaking brother, waiting for Trey to make a move, to issue an order, anything.

"I have business to attend to and I'd hate to separate you so soon, so I shall let you go today," Trey said turning to leave. "You won't always be this lucky," he added as a final remark before disappearing behind the corner.

A heavy silence fell upon the tiwns, fear and relief blending together, neither of them knowing what this meant.

"Daniel," Miles finally said, once he regained the ability to talk.

"Yeah Miles?"

"Let's go home."

lol - sure!!! Because "we" authors never do that. This was great and i have to agree Trey is a bit scary, but i loved the boys determination in this.

Yep, authors would never abandon projects or make things up as they go. Yep, Trey is scary too, but one thing about this story in any way of writing it is how deteramned the twins are, even if Miles has no idea what he's up against.

Yep, Trey is scary, but he's still one of my favorite characters from it. You have to remember, there is always more to him than what is seen. I kind of forget exactly what that is here...but just pretend that I am a good author that knows everything and doesn't just make stuff up as I go.
