Description My notes on The Elder One, from 'At the Mountains of Madness.' I really wish I hadn't traced the pencil line in ink.

It's so beautiful just like a marine invertebrate

Thanks! I really need to do a better version of this. Not that this was supposed to be a "version" at all, this page was originally just my notes- taken from Lovecraft's detailed description, measurements and all- to draw future representations of the Elder Ones.
I wasn't sure how the wings should look, but then I saw "Stygiomedusa gigantea" and I'm inspired: www.mbari.org/news/feature-ima…

Many depictions of Lovecraft's creatures that I've seen tend to superimpose the description over a humanoid frame, even when it doesn't fit the given description. This is the sort of otherworldy invertebrate craziness that I imagine he was going for.

The ones that bug me are the Cthulhus drawn with muscular humanoid bodies.
