Drawing cute things always helps. Have you tried quolls or tasmanian devils yet? Yes, I think the devils can be cute so long as their mouths remain shut.

So far, Ive kinda been the same. After churning out the Pathfinder starship, my muse has taken a vacation. Got ideas, but nothing concrete that I can put on paper or slap together in a 3D graphics program. Was hoping that seein Serenity would help, but no such luck. Just made me want to draw a Firefly class starship, but nothing in the way of creativity.

But, I like Spike more then that POS Shama-whats his name turned out! I mean the creatures started out far more interesting then the humans... They had the potential for intelligence & culture rather than outdated superstition!

I like your derived stuff, shows you put more thought into the characters the the origional. Had Spike been in The Village, I would have like the movie compared to thinking it sucked. At least Shama-whats his name hasnt put out another POS...
And your random stuff is amusing.

Your brain just needs to recover after the thesis work. Read in a psychology magazine that the human brain can optimize itself for specific tasks. Just need to give it time to reset everything.
While this can be a major benefit, sadly for the vast majority of the human population, the brain still cannot fix stupid.
