Description I love the old classic shounen-ai manga called Kaze to Ki No Uta by Takemiya Keiko (did I spell that right?)

I did this 'casue I can't help picturing these two characters as young men rather than young teenagers.

Also, there is no other shounen-ai/yaoi from Japan that I appreciate more than this series--in my personal opinion, yaoi/shounen-ai these days is too superficial with not enough storytelling (well, at least all the translated stuff I've seen is). Sex. sex. sex. and maybe some generic mediocre story tacked on that creates more excuses for sex--there was a time when the characters felt real with engaging plots--but now, well....thhppp

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU.

Stories like those give the genre such a bad name. And yeah its pretty sad.
There has to be a true meaning with depth for such themes to be included in manga but its seems pretty extinct now

On another note, love your drawing style and LOVE Takemiya Keiko and Kaze to Ki no Uta too~~

Wow, you like Keiko Takemiya's stuff too? By the way, your representatuon of Gilbert and the other boy (forgot his name, oops)

Yeah, the BL category of shoujo/josei manga is a (generally speaking) "pornographic mess" nowadays, which technically differs it from the reason the genre was invented, and its sad. Its gotten to the point many fans dislike artists who want to write a plot, and everyone seems to want PWP, and its really sad.

I always thought artists like est em, Fumi Yoshinaga, Makoto Tateno, Ayano Yamane, Natsume Ono (AND you, Ms. Neko!) and the like try to put as much story as possible + sex/romance scenes.

Plus, I love your bishonen style better than your geicomi style. Its so cute!

Can't agree with you more when it comes to plots the nowadays yaoi holds. or rather, the lack of it. Great pictures you have here, very good style.

well i have to disagree, i think miyamoto kano is pretty talented. I dont know if it s a he or she but i luv all his/her works! It seems they would have been just as enjoyable as novels rather than manga. Btw one thing i dont always like about chinese/japanese arts is that it leans on melancholy and angstiness alot. I know they favour these kind of stories and this anime, song of the wind and trees, it is a very good example of that. just not my cup of tea i guess. your art is amazing tho, u can flawlessly draw these kind of feminine characters as well

OMG, i was browsing through your gallery, and found this. I love Kaze to Ki no Uta! It has been a great inspiration to me. I hate it when the newer yaoi can't even come close with the plot.

I usually hate yaoi. But this piece is an exception! I love EVERYTHING in it, the story, the ART (which I could stare at forever)And I cried my eyes out looking over the last volume (Too bad it's all in Japanese, so I couldn't understand a thing)TT___TT.
And you're right, yaoi nowadays is mainly sex (and excuses to have sex.) uurgh!
And I TOTALLY love your drawing! You really captured the style!

YES! Plots are gooood, I can't stand all the random sex now-a-days, it's dull, without a plot.

I love that manga, too! I have watched the anime and it's one of my favourite shounen-ai anime(s) ever! I just love this story so much. My favourite character is Gilbert.

This story is the first shounen-ai manga ever released as far as I know, so it is normal for it to attract less attention. It is very under appreciated, but I love it a lot. It's extremely hard to find any fanart or fanfiction for it, so this piece is like a treasure for me! Wonderful picture really! Gilbert turned out really gorgeous, especially in the younger version. You should do more Kaze to ki no uta fanart!

Ahh! They look so handsome! This really makes me want to whip out the manga again. I'm usually more of a fan of shonen art styles, but The Song of the Wind and Trees manga has such a beautiful, wispy feel to it. That you really brought out well in both younger and older Gilbert and Serge.

(Plus, you made them actually look like pretty guys, rather than girls. When I drew Gilbert, everyone kept asking me why that girl had no boobies. @.@; )

Gorgeous, gorgeous work! I'm glad to see there are a few more fans of tha manga about! ^^ I wish it would come out on paper soon. *sigh* But it's older so I dunno who would pick up the licensing. Btw, if you're looking for a shonen-ai with a driving plot, I love the 80's-90's series "Banana Fish". I've just read the first manga so far and adore it. :3 It's not all about the sex - which you're right, a lot of manga these days is. x| Ah, enough of my blabbing!

I remeber this, its a little bit of an older style, and I only got to see the 1st few episodes
I really should find it and finish it, from what I remeber it was really good
The younger versions of Gilbert and Serge look like a diffrent style than im used to seeing from you, but then, i've never seen you draw younger people till now well done!

Hello, Thank you for your comment!

The young versions of the two boys does look different 'cause I was trying to draw them in the style of the author of the manga, Takemiya Keiko (she had that old 70's style) ^_^ i think I lie the older manga better than the newer stuff--but each generation has thier own style...

The older Boys are sort of my interpretation of her style if she drew them older. ^_^

I think you did rather well, though your style and hers are very diffrent, you do sneak a bit of your own in there, I think thats similar to how'd theyd look if she drew them herself
