Dark to light. I've been experimenting to see how light I can go with my base, so I tried carving this picture out of a medium brown. Low contrast really interests me for some reason

My favorite artist is Matt Dixon, and one element of his work that I love is his use of base colors and shadows that don't go to black. I try to emulate him something hardcore. But my style has a lot of kinks to work out still

My favorite artist is Matt Dixon, and one aspect of his painting style is his distinctive base colors...I've been trying to emulate that because I love the light quality of his work. But he has this really striking way of painting, while I'm still working out the kinks in mine. I think it has to do with my unwillingness to venture too far into grey.
