My mantis pic is sad. I like the way the mantis can move it's little eye spots. If the mantis was any larger they would be hunting people I believe.

I've tried to capture these guys several times lately, I must say this is incredible! The detail is wonderful seeing has for me it was challenging getting them in the right light.

they do, these big eyes are compound
they also have 3 smaller simple eyes in the middle as well (barely visible in this photo right behind and between the antennae in a triangular formation)

The black spots threw me off. And the eyes don't look like speakers the way housefly eyes do.
