What is mind blowing is that it actually looked like this in person. Just as otherworldly, just as splendid. Sometimes I really do wonder why we would want to explore the stars with things like this right on our own planet but then I remember how fascinated I am by the rest of the universe and relate to the urge once again.

I'd love to see the beauty in other planets, I think it is a human trait to 'search and explore' its surroundings. And the more we can do, the further we want to go. But I am likely the sentimental sob that will say; "This is lovely, now I appreciate my own planet even more."

Unless the display is very intense the viewing isn't great until after 1:00 am But it's darker every day

Dang, well I'll let you know if I see anything at work this week I'm on nights and spend lots of my time watching the sky...And our skies are definitely getting dark enough to see stronger aurora effects.
