I love Metal gear Solid. Lately, I've been craving for it all of a sudden... and I dunno why. Probably coz the other week my cousin sent me the CODEC ringtone for my cellphone.
I wanna play the game again so bad, but MGS1 won't work on my PS2... TT_TT I haven't played it in 4 years now, and it's hard to find a classic PS1 cd in my area. I'm jsut fulfilling my craving by watching my favorite cutscenes from MGS1 or the Twin Snakes remake... one of them the Snake/Meryl moments
Solid SnakexMeryl was my first OTP... and I just want to celebrate it again this Valentine's. I'm submitting this early because I prolly won't have time to post it next week.. Grr...graduating this March, lotsa stuff to do...
Also, I'm saddened that Meryl has to see Snake age so fast in MGS4... makes me wish that the Meryl dies/Otacon ending of MGS1was official...

I've never bought a Metal Gear Solid game...
if I where to buy one, which would you suggest, and why?

Hmm, depends on what console you have. I'd suggest you either start with MGS1(PS1) or MGS3 (PS2).
MGS1's a fast-paced game. You'll finish it within 24-30 hours on first try. It may be old, but its story is very... movielike. If you can't stand the old graphics, you can try playing the remake, MGS: The Twin Snakes for the Gamecube.
MGS3 is a prequel to all of the current MGS games and essentially is how the whole saga began. It's regarded by the fans as the most well-loved MGS... either equal to, or greater than MGS1 in terms of story and gameplay.
If you have a PS3, you can buy the HD port of MGS3 (along with MGS2 and the MGS

There's also something called the Essential Collection for the PS2, and it's a re-release of MGS1, 2 and 3. :3
But that may be rare. In that case, you can get the PS3 HD collection (MGS2, MGS3, and a PS3 port of Peacewalker, which was originally for the PSP) Downside is, it doesn't have MGS1. :/
MGS1>>> the game cube remake, but... if you're the type to prefer updated graphics, you can get the Game Cube remake of MGS1. Different cutscenes/music, but essentially the same story.

Eh, I didn't have time to go and look through all of your comments, but if you get a hold of a PS3, (I have the second version) you can have a memory card fixed on there (there is actually an option for this under the memory card data part) that you can have memory for PS1 games, and you can play PS1 games on it. Though, the second version of the PS3 can't play PS2 games... but nonetheless, I'm happy with it. Just trying to help you out.
