My OC Natalie Gardner encircled by a Basilisk. I was in a moment of distress and anxiety and felt like expressing it in the form of art. I have already portrayed feelings of anxiety for the character in the form of demonic shadowy spectres, as seen here: theravensbastard39.deviantart.…

I was getting all worked up about my drawing skills (foreshortening, Perspective, scaling, research, etc.) , lack.of motivation and/or inspiration, and irrational fear that I will not complete or continue the stories I want to tell, and so.this sketch was born. The idea here is that the Basilisk, an already fearsome mythological creature, has the ability to secret a gaseous toxin that affects mind. It plagues the beast's prey with their worst fears and bad memories, similar to the Batman villain Scarecrow's fear toxin.
It also seems poetic to compare anxiety to a serpent/viper. It just seems to slither it's way into your mind and strikes at you with venomous fury without warning and sometimes at the worst possible moments. Even when it passes, we still hear it hissing in our thoughts.
