Please tell me you sell these ma'am. I've been looking everywhere for a nice Sparky for my sister. A few months ago she lost her dog Tank to cancer. She loves Sparky so much because he reminds her of Tank.
She would cry if I could give her your beautiful Sparky ♥♥♥

What kind of clay and glaze do you use? I love the affects on this, and were do you get the glow in the dark paint? Or is it colored clay? This is so cute!

LOVE IT! How do you attach the parts? (head, body)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ThePetiteShop In reply to Hollena [2013-05-03 05:21:27 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! (:
I sculpted each part them used "Fimo Deco Gel" and wire to attach them together. I also added more clay to the edges and smoothed that all together.

Nicely done just a small friendly advice, don't sell yourself/work short, it's worth a lot more than what you're charging for him right now ( based on what I've read in this thread) you've got a lot of potential to go far!

It's understandable, I was afraid of listing too high as well when I first opened my shop. I think the key trick is to create a piece that doesn't take you much time to make. Sell that, wait til you get some positive feedback and then relist that item you sold and include in your listing the positive feedback. Word-of-mouth is your greatest tool! If I take your Sparky for example and made one like it, I would easily price that for 40 to 45 dollars. It may seem like a lot but keep in mind if someone seriously loves your work, they will appreciate the time you put into it and will not mind paying what you are asking for. One formula I've learned to use ( among many other sellers on etsy) is you calculate the cost you spent to make the item + the hourly wage you would like to get paid. You take that number and multiply it by 2 or 3 times and the number you come up with is what you should be selling it at. So let's say it cost $2.00 to make sparky, you would like to make at least 20 dollars an hour so that would be $22.00 multiply that by 2 would give you $44.00, you can start charging even more once you are really set up and people start to know and remember your name That's why I was saying don't sell yourself/work short, you have talent, just be careful to not let people take advantage of you, you deserve every last penny for your work Sorry not trying to give you a lecture of sound rude or anything, I would just love to see someone with your potential go far with it If you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to give you a boost in the right direction

lol anytime! I know how rough it is to start out, I didn't have anyone really when I started out, I did my homework and research on my own, it's always nice to find someone to point you in the right direction Once you pick up on sales, the next big step ( assuming you want to set up a small business) would be to shop online for suppliers for your stock needed. You may end up paying a bit more upfront but when you do the math, you end up saving so much more in the long run instead of buying from a store that over charges for the stuff you need to keep producing. By going to a supplier, you end up doubling your profits from sales
