Ah, a fellow freckly red-head! The textures in this are fantastic and I swear I can almost hear the music. Beautiful! Do you use watercolor colored pencils or just regular colored pencils.

Thank you! Just regular dry coloured pencils in this case. Prismacolor, thick lead. I do use watercolour at times, but haven't experimented with watercolour pencils in a while. Thanks again for the lovely comments!

Not as long as I would have expected. It was all down to using various techniques together - I'll post some progress photos in my scraps soon, to give people an idea of how to do it.

Two things that I love most β€”guitar and colored pencils. You've done a marvelous job on this piece, the colors and the subtle blending are rendered so well. Excellent work

Thank you! Yes, the guitar was my favourite bit, as well. I started the image with it, and once it was done it was a great incentive to finish the rest. Even though it is a portrait, I can't help but feel the instrument is the subject of it.
