Immediately upon seeing this I thought it must be a Carr from his 2300-2400 series, which feature squares like these. This is a delightfully-shaded fractal with subtle yet interesting coloring. The best colors are in the middle, with a sort of frame of muted monotone at the edges.
It should be both fun and enlightening to explore the many other effects that can be made by mixing one of these Carr fractals (I presume that this is a Carr fractal) for example by adding a jos.ucl "Backdrops", or "Celtic Knot" or "Droste Effect", or OM.ucl Diet Traps, using various curves and functions.

First thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. I appreciate it! Actually the formula is Gnarl with a Hoops and Tubes on the Outside. The subtle coloring was intentional, I wanted something rather neutral.
This is one fractal I want indeed to explore further more, adding variations and different coloring.
