I just finished this piece for a client of Harold Godwinson (c. 1022 – 14 October 1066), the last Anglo-Saxon king of England before being killed at the Battle of Hastings and succeeded by his enemy and rival, the Norman William the Conqueror. The client asked for him to be seated on a throne holding a spear and pointing down to a lion lying down at his feet, with a scroll below with the words, "God save the Houses of Godwin and Wessex."
