Well. This is my last and final pumpkin for this year. I'll miss 'em. Though I did take my sweet time in getting around to make all of these. Hah. December is a little late for pumpkin season. But anyways: this is a pumpkin I made for another dear friend of mine. I promised I'd make her a pumpkin when we went out to buy pumpkins this year and now I've finally finished it! Once again, I probably had way too much fun with this; and I certainly spent quite a long time on it as well. Pretty much took me the whole day. Not sure why, these things are generally pretty quick. But I digress. My friend really loves horses (and let's be honest, who doesn't?) so I made a fun, celtic-patterned fire horse. I hope she likes it! Enjoy!

And the photos for these all came out really, really well. I had trouble deciding which one looked best.

Thanks! Well, use references, have a good idea of what you want to do, use red pen/or permanent marker to draw out everything first; and then use an exacto blade for everything else. (except for taking off the top of the pumpkin of course. I use a steak knife for that, generally).

Hmmm.....I did that but mine came out like crap.
How do you get only some of the pumpkin out?
I tried my rotary tool but the thing got away from me.....big stinking line right across the pumpkin. ha ha ha ha!
I might try a power drill.
Do you think I'm making a mistake by going with POWER?

I would just stick with an exacto blade. Small, delicate, and it gets the job done without ripping up the pumpkin. If you want varying degrees of light showing through, the trick to that is only cutting in slightly, and then take out only a small piece of the pumpkin. It's a bit difficult at first, but I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. And post a link to the pumpkin once it's done! I'd love to see it.

Hmmm......that might be my problem. ha ha ha ha!

More patience.....OK.....I think I have to lower my expectations.
I'm going to try a bolder design with less details.
