Description A memorable scene from The Book of Lost Things, wherein we learn the Crooked Man's choice of a between-meal snack. If I could remember some of the dialogue I'd post it here, but I have not the book. I would like it very much, though.

This drawing was quick and dirty. The inking was quick and dirty. The coloring was meant to be, but I decided to put some tutorials to work and just slap down the color, and it's turned out very well. I've learned a lot just from this one sketch, particularly skintones. I might be on my way to being a *gasp* awesome colorist someday! Though I'd still want to color one of my things and make it all purdy.

Find the book, read it. It's great. It's like Pan's Labryrinth (ironically they came out the same year) only with much more fantasy. They should make a movie out of it. Crispin Freeman should be the Crooked Man. Or Doug Jones should. I'd like that.

I read this book 2 months ago, it's the best i ever read during this year. I love it and this Crooked Man is exactly how i've imagined him!

I love this. I love the book also. I proudly own a copy. That scene was..interesting...especially since I adore Roland and it gave you some infomation about him. Very good picture.

What was it he/it said ? Something about beetles being crunchy outside and soft inside, I think. It nearly was worse than how he/it ate them.

Connlly is a genius, but the Crooked Man is just... terrifyingly hilarious. If that makes sense.

OMG YES
I just finished reading that scene! I love the book so far, and I TOTALLY AGREE that they should make it into a movie! If they do, I REALLY hope that they don't just kill it like they did with Inkheart 8c

So far there's been no updates as to the possibility of a movie... they had a release date for 2009 but yeah nothing.

Awe man I hate when they do that D: Hopefully there will be another date coming out soon, I'd love to see this book on the big screen, with The Woodsman, Roland, The Crooked Man and of course, David.

This is my favorite book ever its brilliant, and this picture is brilliant. The Crooked Man very much scares me, really he's one of my biggest fears, and you capture his disgusting, horrid nature very well! so great.

I love, LOVE this book, but every time I read it, I'm awfully afraid of the Crooked Man, mostly because in my childhood (and even now sometimes ) I see a creature very similar to the Crooked Man in my nightmares!
I was sooooo shocked as I read the book for the first time, because it was like my nightmare creature jumped out of my dreams, into this book and is haunting down other children there now!

But your picture is really horribly good!

By the way, I LOVE "Pan's Labyrinth" too! I have a thing for Fairytales and also for the darker versions of them!

I'm just a passerby, but I had to say that I absolutely love you for drawing this. The Book of Lost Things is definitely one of my favorites, and you capture the eeriness of the Crooked Man so wonderfully. I adore the lighting, and he is so vile--but spectacularly so

Holy crap, this book is totally amazing. It actually made me cry by the end. It's a thinker novel.

Wow, I didn't think there was any fan-art of this fantastic book out there at all.
You got down the Crooked Man's creepiness down pretty well, even though it's not how I quite imagined him (by justa smidge). I like how smooth he looks, though. He isn't overly creepy, but still creepy.

But seriously folks in internet land, read Book of Lost Things. It's beyond amazing.

I'm still refining his look though, trying to differentiate him from my own version of Rumplestiltskin (which this book inspired, by the way). It's an excellent book. I need to buy it. Badly. For the holidays. Yes.
