Yep, there nothing like northern CA fog. Here on the east coast (Virginia) the fog is of a different texture altogether.

Does hold a certain mystery to it doesn't it, feels alsmot like something you'd see in a detective novel. Shadey looking detective stood witing on a hill side looking over his sity all "From here she didn't seem as bad, kinda peaceful infact, But I knew in those streets below she had a stench to her"

great shot

Wow... I'm waiting for a model to do mysterious girl stuff before a shoot and thought I'd take a look to see what's new on dA. Both inspiring and... how the heck am I supposed to do something as cool as that?

I'd rather be doing what you're doing...but here's what you do...

You get a degree in engineering.
You work at a few places for 18 some odd years. Somewhere in there you move to Marin county...
Then, you get sick of working for a really lame company and do something stupid like decide you can handle the commute from San Rafael to Menlo Park every day...so you submit a resume to some crazy thing called the Stanford linear accelerator center...thinking...there is no way I'll ever get the job...

Whoops, then you do...then you realize you now have to drive 50 miles each way to work...and part of that involves going across the GG bridge everyday...

Then...and this is very, very important. Your wife makes you a double latte every morning so right about the time you hit the bridge, you're totally amped (oh and did I mention you have to leave at 6:30AM to miss most of the traffic?).

And...the very most important thing is have your camera in your car at all times even if it looks crappy out!

I see the guy from the Chronicle up here all the time...he wasn't there today though

Enjoy your shoot you luck devil!

That's fairly scary, actually, since I am by no stretch of the imagination a morning person. Also the last four years I worked as a programmer I did 2 days a week at home and the two years before that I only went in once a week for a couple of hours. But since May I've just been doing the photography which is nice... spent two weeks in the Galapagos and then I've been doing a ton of studio work since then (and a few cool outdoor shoots).

Anyway, I think the shoot went well. I had fun anyway and I think she did too. Another shoot tomorrow and then I'm done until October 4th when I'm finally working with a model and friend who's finally back in the country (don't want to jinx it by saying her name).

OK...I'll bite...how can you survive just doing photography? Or did you make a ton of money in the dot.com and sold out right before hand.

I feel like I'll have to slave the rest of my life Even saving 15% of my income...

Well...I'll live vicariously through you

It's probably not permanent... I'll probably spend part of the year contracting which I always liked more than being an employee. But I'm taking a little bit of time off before trying to line something up.

But probably the biggest factors are - low mortgage, no kids, wife works. When I was working we were saving more like 35% - 40% of our income anyway.

I've got all those going for me except for the no kids...unfortunately...or fortunately....that seems to be one of the more expensive ones!

You left out "mysterious". It's the dark of the foreground and the deep violet of the fading light.
Lovely.
