Description Quick painting of the nameless character known only as "Medicine Seller" (Kusuriuri [薬売り] in Japanese) from the anime "Mononoke" and the last arc of "Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales."
I really love the character design of Kusuriuri-san because his facial expression and face-paints reminds me of a kitsune mask and that despite being a male character, he's depicted wearing a furisode and an obi styled in tateya musubi which are characteristics of kimono worn by unmarried young woman.

I love this; I don't remember how I find out about Mononoke series, but right after that I watch all the episode in just one night and move on to the Ayakashi. I wasn't pay attention to this one at first because he was draw with subtle color but then I was like "Hold on, wasn't that...?" I love the transparent branch too, it's give a Mushishi vibe, or like he was walking through a raining garden.

Absolutely love this!  I like how you have the flowering branches worked into the picture. The pattern on the Obi is beautiful.  Love the colors you used in this. Just curious, how often is a medicine seller really just a medicine seller in Anime/Manga?

I'm glad you like it!
Lol, now that is an interesting question. They usually aren't just normal medicine seller though, especially if they are the main characters.

Stunning! Also... you just taught me something about his clothes!
It must have been a conscious choice to dress him that way.
I only found out there was a mononoke series a few weeks ago.
I had seen his story in the Ayakashi tales a long time ago.

Thank you! And I'm glad I can share what little bits I know about kimono.
To be honest I first found Mononoke from a one-shot manga in which Kusuriuri-san was dealing with the bakeneko (that last arc from Ayakashi).

the Mononoke series has a really unique artstyle, as in it kinda looks like ukiyoe paintings and rather psychedelic at that.
