Description
I had an art block. This was the first (halfway) decent thing I'd drawn in weeks. The grandparents of Europe, left-to-right: Mama Celt/Gael (ancient nomadic Celt, she went as far east as Hungary and as far west as the British child--and left several unclaimed children on the mainland--two of which, at least, were by Rome; her claimed children, Brittania and Hibernia, settled on the British Isles), Germania (his two children, Skandinavia and Gothic Tribes, are the forbears of much of the middle and north of Europe), Grandpa Rome (grandfather of many "half-barbarian" children--like France and Spain, his favorites are his "pure" grandchildren--the Italians, Mama Greece (mother of Western Civilization, she took over the Byzantine empire shortly before she died, leaving the Eastern half of the empire to her son), Grandmother Slavia (had many children, and many more grandchildren, her family is--in many ways--far more distinct from the rest of Europe as the other Europeans are from each other).
