Description This may or may not be done... depending on how energetic I feel, I might go back and detail the rocky texture some more, stuff like that. For now, it's going to go on the maybe-finished back burner.

Probably one of the largest, most detail oriented paintings I've done in a while, this one is 16 x 11 in its original state. Whew. Back to sketchy concept art so I can feel like I finish stuff sometimes.

*scratches head* was the person in the dark robe, in the center, there when you sent me this the other day? lol Or is he a new addition?

you're so sneaky.

He was there as a scribble - I worked right to left while detailing (the total opposite of what you're supposed to do traditionally, but since I can't smudge stuff in Painter with my hand, tradition can suck it) but yeah, he was sort of there.

Sneaky? Moi? *looks innocent*

wth did this only get two comments? and two favs?

This piece is so alluring. I love the shades and the feel. It's a strong concept art piece. Very strong that in fact tells a story. The story though no apparent is clear in the feel of the setting, the characters, the lighting, the shadows. My god. This is a very beautiful piece that strikes the viewer at awe. I love the detail in the bricks and the folds in the cloth. It's not harsh, not distracting yet clear and vibrant. The light source clear and evident it directs the viewer without the characters there. It's a strong piece as well as very clear in its intentions. For a small critique though I would have to say that the perspective of the building going down this narrow escape or way, its a bit simplified for the rest of the picture though acceptable and evident that the emphasis is the foreground and middle ground. This is a really strong piece. Nice job and I'mma fav.

Love the feel of this. Fantastical, but quietly so, like there's a hidden story and all.

Given the title, I'm wondering if you are looking forward to/have scene Mirrormask.

Heh. It's actually an illustration of part of my world for Conceptual Illustration, so in that regard it does have a story behind it.

I haven't seen Mirrormask yet - the title was more of a reference to Venice's Carnival of Masks, which is part of what I based the piece and the mask on.
