Probably. While I do see these gimmicks as coincidental, I just feel like they should do it anyway. If I recall, Super Mystery Dungeon did something like that with the starter and partner. Plus hey, given Masuda's statement on Megas being temporary, it could be the same thing for those who want to keep their Bulbasaurs the way they are now while calling upon the power of Venusaur. LOL

That is a different universe though. The thing is that idea and this new one can be over-powerful. Why it is best to be temporary. I guess if they do not want to actually evolve their Pokemon.
