The kid doesn't always communicate with the living, but when they do...They don't really shut up. They also tend to insult the people they're talking to.
Why? Well it's because they typically don't like anyone. And they dislike some people more than others.
Like Flowey for instance, and what's Flowey really going to do? Kill them? The kid's already dead.
Absorb their soul? That would just mean the he'd be stuck with the kid and you'd better believe they would try to make him go insane. There isn't really much Flowey can do to the kid and the kid knows it.
I mean he can fight back and that...which he probably would very soon. But that's a scene for another time.

Well how is one suppose to react to a ghost of a human kid just talking nonstop to them?
Buuut to be honest I had drawn various smiley faces on Flowey before.
So I just put the kid over them and voila, a reason for the flower's expression.
