Listen to the night.Β Search the chords of chilling air. . . A faint clap.Β The hollow sound echoing through the dark, followed by the tendrils of a breathless fog.Β You must go!Β RUN!Β Command your legs through the deadfall!Β Move your arms in harmony with your calves!Β Be a conditioned tactician!Β A clap. . . Then another!Β No longer faint but a rhythmic thump.Β You plot your course.Β The terrain is your chess board.Β Your movement is quick.Β Disheveling fear with each step.Β But the horse replants it four steps at a time.Β Gaining position with red furnaces guiding its eyes.Β You make a blind move.Β Your armor snagging on a limb!Β The spill sends you crashing down.Β Spiraling into the earth as you try to stay above.Β Silence.Β Your only ally, now against you.Β The fog lists in.Β Filling the voids between you and your trees.Β You can't move, don't dare to move, but you must.Β You lift your head.Β Open your eyes.Β The ghastly white fog has socked you in the course.Β A figure.Β So consuming and dark.Β His approach.Β No more moves.Β He has taken you with his horse.

All the other horsie names are excellent, (Glory is the horse of conquest? That was friggin BRILLIANT!) but this one made me pause. Famine doesn't really bring fear and that was kinda covered by Death, anywho....

Waste? Desolation? Barren? Ah, I like that one -- Barren, the black horse of Famine! Sounds more thematic.
To me, at least xD You must forgive my ramblings, I'm the naming expert in my D&D group. Someone needs a name on the spot and I think for 30 seconds and produce a litany. It's pretty bad. Now I can't turn this bad habit off!
Anyway... I just wanted to also add that I freaking squeed like a fangirl when I saw you added SWARMS to the greenish flames on this horse! That was a stroke of brilliance! I NEVER would have thought to add locust swarms, so devastating to crops, to Famine's steed. But of course, it is only too apropos... you've thought of everything designing this. If they don't use it for Darksiders III, I will throw a brick through all their windows.

Decay is good, but more associated with death. I'd probably sayΒ "Contagion" or "Plague" are good options but they are similar to the meaning of Pestilence. The idea is to have something that is directly involved with or related to the horseman.
In that light, I'd say "Pyre" is a good option because when plagues get very bad, you cannot dig graves fast enough. The only option is to burn them, often in massive funeral pyres. You also get some nice alliteration in the names. ^_^

Yea i agree with you. i guess i chose fear since a swarm of locusts coming at a village does seem quite menacing... plus i kinda liked how it sounded
As for darksiders 3, i think THQ went bankrupt and no ones bought darksiders from them yet. even so they have their own set of horsemen XD

Ah, good point. If I saw a swarm of locusts coming down on me, you can bet I'd be curled up in a corner and hyperventilating from pure terror.

So I was stupidly distressed when I read that THQ went bankrupt so I did what I usually do -- run to the internet to verify such a terrible fate. And i have good news! While the CEO of the original studio and most of the employees have been snapped up into another American game company, Nordic Games managed to get the rights to the franchise! However, they did say not to expect a new game until at least 2 years from now,Β but at least it isn't dead! Hey, what could it hurt? Maybe the need a concept artist. I totally support the idea of you sending your drawings in for consideration!

well thats good news. im a fan of darksiders and id hate to have the series end so abruptly. Even so, as much as i would like to work with them i dont think they're going to stray away from their current art direction (which i LOVE btw) for the sake of continuity

Well, they got to be bored. After all, the apocalypse is only opened by the seven seals and nobody is going to open them anytime soon. Guess Famine will have to pick his job up as a chef, there are some hungry people out there.
