Wow, finally an Alice cosplayer! I think ou're the first one I've ever seen, which is really too bad considering how awesome MGQ was. You'd never expect a game like that to be so deep and so serious, and yet it doesn't take itself too seriously. If they removed certain elements and reworked the idea a bit, it wouldn't make a half bad anime.

I'm happy, too! It shows the fan base is getting larger and more vocal. Because of the way our society is in the States, games like MGQ rely almost completely on word-of-mouth to build support. I hope to see more MGQ cosplayers, I mean, it shouldn't be too hard to do Luka unless you actually plan to try to make Angel Halo... 0_0

Oh, dear, I read through the story that you linked me to and that just sounds terrible. I mean, the whole idea of "fakers" or "posers" is bad enough but to think that these girls would exploit the geek culture (and, I guess, their own attractiveness) and do this sort of thing on purpose is just disrespectful and horrendous. I know our community tends to be hurt easily, so I can only imagine that girls would be scared to do it and guys who've been on the receiving end would tend to be more critical and maybe more suspicious.
I've never heard the term "snoob" or "sn00b" before, but I agree, these women definitely seem very stuck-up. In fact, they aren't just stuck-up or sn00by, I think what they're doing flat-out amounts to bullying. It's tragic, and I'm just glad I've been able to avoid seeing any examples of this.
I'm just glad, then, that a lot of my favorite Eroge were ones that have been adapted into anime so that it's easier for me to bring them up. I also tend to like a lot of smaller-scale ones that have more "everyday" stories - I've played through "Snow Sakura," "Heart de Roommate" and "Osananajimi wa Daitoryou," for example.
My favorite right now is the famous "Koihime Musou," which has also been adapted into a number of anime series (Koihime Musou/Shin Koihime Musou/Shin Koihime Musou: Otome Tairan). It's basically a retelling of "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" or "Dynasty Warriors" with all the historical figures turned into cute girls, but it's also a really nice story, the character designs are amazing, the music is beautiful and even the plot is really creative - seriously, the whole story is ultimately based on the idea of breaking the fourth wall *on purpose.*
I bought the game at Otakon 2012 back in July and fell in love with it, so much so that I decided to take an original character I created for my "Star Trek" fan fiction ideas, and declare that he is the direct descendant of a character from "Koihime Musou" to pay respect to the KM franchise.

Ouch, I really am sorry that you had to put up with women like that. I know there is a huge problem within the fan community of bullying and abuse coming from the side of the male fans, but it seems like what you just described to me is an equally big problem but it just isn't as well-known. (Not to mention, those girls are posers as well as bullies, and posers/fakers just aren't cool anywhere.)
You do very well to "keep your power level hidden," because it's always better to just be the bigger man - or, in your case, lady. You've put in so much effort to go to a 'con, to be part of something special and just be happy for one weekend out of a very long and dreary working life; it just isn't worth your while to ruin the whole thing just because of an incident with a troll that could be just as easily avoided. After all, as we all would say, the best way to fight a troll is to starve it, since attention is what they crave, right?
You can get all of those VN's through a website called www.erogedownload.com. They're all lighthearted and relatively quick plays. I actually really loved "Snow Sakura" (had a great time chatting with the folks from MangaGamer about it) because although it's one of those "everyday" games, it was set in Japan's Alaska - Hokkaido - and I really got a nice picture of what it's like living up there, how Hokkaido has a culture all its own, and how it's different from the rest of Japan just from playing that game. One of my medical school classmates is going to Hokkaido right now, and every time she'd gush about the trip, I'd think back to "Snow Sakura."
Wow, I'm glad you watched "Koihime Musou." I agree with you - I think "Koihime," despite how light-hearted the anime was compared to the game, was one of the most creative and beautiful retellings of the legend of the Three Kingdoms that I've ever seen, and there have been so many. ^_^ I do think it's really too bad, though, that they didn't incorporate the game's beautiful music in the anime. KM's famous ending theme - "Crying Out, the Princess in Love Becomes a Floral Empress," is one of my favorite J-pop songs of all time. I've caught myself humming this every now and then: [link]
The character designs were also very beautiful. I like how they took a lot of elements both from the original legend of the Three Kingdoms (like Kan'u/Aisha having Guan Yu's giant halberd or Guan Dao or taking the famous sword of Liu Bei/Ryuubi Gentoku and turning it into an entire plot arc) and from real Chinese history, and then just went and ran with them. I actually grew to love KM so much that I bought a $99.99 figure of one of the characters (Renfa) and bought an art book, and I don't regret spending a cent of it. ^_^
This is my original "Star Trek" fan character, Captain M. Tobias Sun of the Starship Farrington (NX-2010). I asked an artist on this site to do a character design for him: [link]
And like I said, I decided to make a "thank you" gesture to "Koihime Musou" to honor that, and made that O/C the direct descendant of KM's Sonken Chuubou (Renfa): [link] He's basically her great-great-something-grandson from 2,000 years in the future.
I've asked my artist friend to draw them together (sort of like a "mother and son" picture), but I don't know if/when that's going to be done for me... ^_^;

I hope so too. I'm not rushing the artist or anything. I think artists do best when they're left alone, and I honest feel like I asked her to do a tougher job this time since the background's more complicated, and there are two characters involved.
That's great - I'm glad you were able to find the link useful. I hope all of the visual novels you downloaded work properly. I've had a lot of fun playing through a lot of them. Please keep in mind, Manga Gamer released 2 versions of Koihime Musou in the States. At first, they weren't able to license the Japanese voice cast but by 2012, they were able to do a fully voiced release.
I bought Koihime Musou at Otakon 2012 from the Manga Gamer booth because I wanted to support the company, so I have it on disc and mine is the voiced version. I don't know which version the website had for you to download, or if it was the unvoiced version with a voice patch. I just thought you might need to keep that in mind. The Japanese voice cast did an incredible job and there are even some famous seiyuu there.
For example, Sonken (Renfa) is voiced by Harumi Sakurai, who is most recently known for Yurippe from "Angel Beats!" and the two villains, Saji and Ukitsu, are voiced by real-life buddies Hikaru Midoriakwa and Takehito Koyasu. You may know them as Heero Yuy and Zechs Merquise of "Gundam Wing," their two most famous roles.
I think you've got the right attitude - feeding the positives, trying to ignore or minimize the negatives. I wish I could be more like you, but I often end up getting too caught up arguing with people because I'm trying to "fight the good fight." Usually this means trying to stop people flaming the rebooted "Star Trek" franchise... but that's something I'd rather not talk about. I don't know, Derpy, I'm starting to think that, Ilias forbid, maybe it's possible to care too much about something.
And thanks for your compliment on my character design! It must be a coincidence that Captain Sun reminds you of Raidou Kuzunoha, because I actually was looking through this artist's gallery here on DA and asked her to base my character on this guy:

I actually don't really know who he is, but he had the right look I was going for. ;
