really like what you did with the background ... not to mention cute little strange animals
what sort of resources do you use for your scenery & foregrounds? The plants are all based on real references, though they're obviously freehanded ... is this something that you've spent a lot of time learning or do you keep using new references for your pieces?

I do a little of both, I've spent a fair amount of time doing sketches of plants and stuff, but usually when I want to do something specific (like a phalaenopsis orchid or split leaf philodendron) I use some references, but I try not to directly reference stuff because I'm too lazy to look for good stock
