I have to say, this is one of the most impressive costumes i've seen in a long time.
Even though I haven't read any of the graphic novels or played any of the games, I've only read the Legacy of Evil Series, I recognized this instantly!
I originally saw it via www.facebook.com/AnimePowerLev… from Chicago Comic Con.
After fangirling, I did a google search and finally found your deviantart. I was wondering if you would let me share this photo and your deviantart on Cosplay page?

Thank you for doing this, a friend of mine and I are wanting to do a Darth Bane and Zanna cosplay sometime :3

Very impressive costume. Two notes though. Bane's lightsaber is red and has a curved hilt like Dookus did.

Thank you for sharing your understanding. Here’s mine;
This is my costume, the correct colour for me is violet. But I do not make this choice flippantly. I built the suit over the course of 4 years (starting two years before Drew Karpyshyn’s retelling of the existing canon for the character,) researched the character thoroughly, and continue to do so as I improve the suit and accessories. Making costumes is my passion, and passion is life.
In 2000 Lucas Books published Star Wars: Secrets of the Sith, with the very first look at Darth Bane. He was shown with a straight-handled, violet blade.
I have a photo from this book here; [link] >Darth Bane First visual reference, Secrets of the Sith 2000
I wanted a strong violet LED to build into my own pistol grip handled design, but the lads I turned to for the electronics offered to built me a straight-handled one instead, based on the violet saber Darth Bane used in Star Wars: Jedi Vs Sith, Dark Horse (2001.) The events of this comic, and the StarWars(dot)com Hyperspace article "Bane of the Sith" (remember Hyperspace subscriptions) were later turned into the backbone of the Darth Bane novel trilogy (2006, 2008, and 2009) by Drew Karpyshyn. Drew added Dessel's humble beginnings and end. I shared my progress with Drew and he wrote sort of an apology for having to work Bane out of his orbalisk armour. I was touched that he cared but responded that no apologies were needed, his story took the character even farther than before and for that I was over joyed.
The requirement to simplify sabre colours happened before SW Episode II, 2002, in the wake of third parties assigning red and yellow sabers to Jedi in video games and action figures based on characters whose sabre colours had yet to be revealed. Jedi sabres became green and blue, and Sith became Red. (A few lasting well known exceptions being Mara Jade and Mace Windu's violet sabres.)
I never did get the perfect electronics for my pistol grip design, but I know a strong violet LED blade is now possible. One day soon, I hope to produce that hilt as well.
Be well,
Thomas

I confess myself impressed not only by the detail and work you put into your costume but by your passion for it as well. I have seen your work and that very costume itself actually got a picture with you, a Sidious and Ventress costumers by the giant Rancor.
I assure you I meant no offense or to sound trite in my lightsaber suggestion, I had forgotten that both Dark Horse and early canon had Bane with a straight handle and violet blade. I admire your costumes and ability.

Good evening,
Thank you once more for your feed back. My response above was written to fellow who had become rude in his comments on the photographer’s facebook page. I felt pasting it here might help explain to others who happen by.
The response on fb was mild compared to some that my video post has garnered on youtube. Folk actually feel the need to break out four lettre words over their upset over the lightsabre. While I think it curious, I do not let it go under my skin. I will be forty-two this year. I mean to be passed such baiting beahaviour.
I also would like to write that even the polite words may be read as vindictive if we allow our imaginations to grow dark. Please be assured, my words here are sharing and caring--not condescending.
Be well,
Thomas

Excellent.
There should not be ill feelings between fans I agree. I don't understand myself why some become so vehement in their comments and just wanted to be sure I did not offend. Once again I'd like to express my admiration of your costumes and detail as a fellow costumer and SWs fan.
Regards,
Xizer
