Description Tried to paint in photoshop, endup needed painter to complete it. Used another way to paint it, turns out took longer than I thought. The scar are unexpected harder to paint than the rest.

Update:
I got a DD feature~! and thanks for the comments, I've already acknowledge theres perspective error at the tail, sinceI'm still lack pf experience in drawing, theres should be many place that look awkward too.
And also, some of you had an idea the tail being another thing, so keep it beween us, you wont needed be pointing out because I've already got a LOT people comments with same though. But do mind the language if you're going to say, some audience might get offended.

This painting reminds me immediately of Sobek, Egyptian God of the Nile and crocodiles. I also want to say, props for the cloaca, people do miss that and start playing God with anatomy sometimes.
I love the scars, and the only thing that bothers me at once and keeps nagging at me is that the torso is so very segmenty-muscled that it makes the legs look like they don't have enough detail, and especially the tail strikes me as...well, it could really gain another leg up in my opinion if there was some scale detail, especially on the tale. What does everyone associate with crocs? Those bumpy scales that make the reptile look like a floating log. And where are they the most obvious? On the tail. I realize that he is underwater, and that the tail is much smoother on the underside, but I still feel the tail could've used a wee bit more detail, or even just the hint of detail.

Now, I say that that part did bother me, but overall, I really adore this painting in spite of that. I love the scar details, and the fish swimming overhead. The lighting is absolutely gorgeous, and the pleasant, mellow color scheme is really a nice juxtaposition to the fear we associate with crocs and gators. I also like the intelligence that you've been able to paint into this character-those of us who have seen real specimens might note that while they sometimes seem clever or evil, most of the time, reptiles do not appear smart, whether or not they are. So I love the expression and sort of dark edge you gave the character, it's really awesome.

Another detail that I feel really sets this piece apart is the outline of the moon. A novice might have given it the hard spherical shape we see topside, but the shape you gave it really speaks of watery lines. I like that. I almost wonder if it should be more distorted, but I've never seen a light from underwater, so I'd rather not weigh in there.

Anyway. I love the angle, the composition-and I think you have an excellent eye for form!

Thanks for the point out, I was wondering should I distort the moon more, I'll aware the details more in future works. And glad you liked it~!

For being farily bland to the first glance, a full view yeilds much more to the eye than the small picture does. Admittedly, the monochromatic tones are a bit dull, and the overhead sky is fairly blank (not that you'd be able to see the stars from underwater - I'd advise a tad more distortion of the moon for that effect) but it takes a few more seconds to really get into this. The plethora of scars (the one across the chest being the only one I don't like the look of)suggest a less than passive nature, which marks out the purpose for the musculature quite nicely, which in turn is shaded very well to bring out the texture of the anatomy. The head and jawline are ver well defined and perportioned, and the gleam of the skin is very well done, with all angles being more or less correct. The spacity of the bubbles does convey a distinct tranquil feeling. It's a very deep piece (no pun intended) and has much to be seen.
Finally - Kudos for the cloaca and lack of navel. Both of which are occasionally neglected in reptilian anthros.

Thanks fore the critique, I really need more of this. And agree on the colors are dull, guess I still need more aware on overall contrast and practices.

I wouldn't advise too much contrast. I have found too muc htinkering spoils the origional effect. Really, the only things that neeed tending to is the starlight and the chest scar. I can't advice you on the latter - i'm no good with wounds - but I can tell you it looks far too wide for such a shallow scar. How you deal witth that is your business.

I wish you well.

How did he get all those scars on his body? Was he being hunted by poachers or something?

Oh, I can tell it's a tail, and I haven't noticed any perspective problems.

I did assume that, like most aquatic species, his kind only displays visible sexual organs when aroused; the rest of the time, they're safely concealed inside the body.

what might help, is to remember that the under side of a crocodile has platting from its upper abdomen to the tip of its tail. the under side is also very flat and the tail you did looks very cylindrical, the dip that occurs between the lower abdominal and its tail gives it the look of an extension from the waist and not a continuation of its under side. its very important, when drawing humanoid animals, is to remember that the more human they get the more people will recognize it as human and not animal. Last piece of advice which could be the easiest thing to do is just bring the tip of the tail back into the picture some how that can make a big difference. as for the rest i like the way the moon is, if the water is still enough the moon can be seen without a bunch of distortion. everything is rendered well. scars are cool they fit the style. if you think about it...just the controversy of this can bring you a lot of attention so good job. i would have liked to use the critique option but i don't have a premium membership.

The perverted mind can draw such ridiculous, blind conclusions.
