Honestly, I can’t even tell if it’s a drawing, or if it’s a photo… I am completely absorbed in your image, and unable to discern if it is true, or if it is false… Whether it’s the shadows, the movement of the water, or the smallness of the framing, everything is perfect. This gives a narrow and disturbing effect to your drawing, but also pleasant and confusing. Personally I feel absorbed and worried by your drawing. Probably worried because I have a panic fear of water. And I didn’t know that a simple image could make me feel that emotion.

The blurred, cloudy effect of the background gives a mysterious and deep side to your image. It feels like it’s huge, and at the same time very small and it completely loses us. In any case, it has totally upset me. I noticed I was tilting my head when I was looking at your image. Probably because I’m trying to find the surface, the exact spot outside the water.Because I thought, strangely, that both sides of the drawing could be the bottom of the water. It’s too strange ‘ ’ The movement feels like the water is alive. The small yellow color that is there is also moving.

I love the way your drawing makes me lose my way. Thanks for making such a drawing, thanks to you I found inspiration for a text where I was facing the terrible Page Blanche!

I really like **

I found your image on Thank you for putting it there.

Vaekin

Hi, I found this piece through :devprojectcomment: and you've requested a short comment so...

My initial impression of this piece was that it was a photograph - and that is in no way a criticism. My next impression was that really the "action" of the piece occurs in a diagonal band taking around 1/3 of the image, with negative space to either side. I wondered why? Then it seemed that this must be an image to convey something about the surface of water as being a boundary between light and dark, both literally and as concepts for life and death (at least for us humans).

Technically, since this isn't a photograph (and I'm a photographer) a lot of my normal comments don't apply but I do like the composition: the use of "Dutch Angle" to extend the area of interest and add a dynamic feel to the image, the use of negative space (white and black) to complete the image, the droplets of water and the detail of the surface. As a piece of digital art I think you should consider where optical artefacts (your hexagons) would occur in a real image (along the line between the light source and the centre, typically) and also that these artefacts come from the lens aperture so they will only be one shape and all aligned.

I confess I don't really understand the use of the petals/leaves - they seem out of place. The splash of colour is pleasing but not really needed and you could have had some small rainbow effect in any of the water droplets instead. Perhaps that's something to look at in photos of this kind?

Overall this is a nice piece of art - aesthetically pleasing and with a theme that raises questions, giving it a depth that goes beyond the surface (pun intended). Thank you for sharing!

Life? Coulda put in a big old SHARK I just wasn't sure where the leaves would come from because I got an "ocean" vibe from the image, rather than a lake or river.

If you'd really wanted to be unsubtle you could have had a splash of trash for your colour dots... My first thought was that was what you were hinting at...

Anyway - it's a classy piece of work and I really liked it.
