My upcoming fic ‘Devastated’ is coming along well. And in a word, it’s big. Really big. Currently standing with over 50K words, and the writing isn’t even finished. This is going to be my biggest story yet, not just for Wreck-It Ralph, but of my fanfiction-side of life (unless ‘Extreme Hearts’ decides to scale up in my sleep). The characters in this sketch all share something in common: they’re part of a theme slipped within the chapters: the story is going to be broken up into what I like to call ‘possessive chapters’. Each chapter is named after a character who holds some kind of significance within that part of the story. The character may not be the focus of that chapter, nor will he/she necessarily play all that big of a role in the actual story, but enough to have the chapter named after them. The character will also be in possession of something that plays just as much importance. For example, Chapter 1 is called ‘Taffyta’s Phone Call’, referencing the phone call she sends to Vanellope at the beginning to alert the former president. Every chapter will be like that. Just something fun for me to play with while piecing together the story I’ve been developing since the end of May. There may be more or less characters who get possessive chapters in the final version, who knows? And if you haven’t figured out by now, I absolutely love dreaming up character bios and descriptions. That’s why I’m a huge fan of those essential guides they make for movies, especially Disney ones. What I would give for one on Wreck-It Ralph. That little mini version they made for the sequel is barely adequate enough to count.

Swizzle Malarkey and Minty Zaki. The extreme-livin’, double-daring, affectionate pair who spend their time outside the races going on adventures in any game they can find and turning it into their own personal playground. Though they have their respective gang of guys and gals, they’re frequently seen together, with Minty being the brain and Swizzle as the brawn of their close relationship. But in the end, they’re just 2 kids who have each other’s backs no matter what. Their actions are deliberately written as a way to reflect several things that happen in the story to other characters. Try to pay close attention to what happens in Minty’s chapter.

Snowanna Rainbeau. The funk-loving music maker of the racers and Crumbelina’s best friend. Normally energetic and full of animated life, she’s battling through a very difficult rainstorm of conflicted emotions right now that’s killing the dance in her step, so try to give her some space.

Crumbelina DiCaramello. The sweet n’stylish Italian racer of Sugar Rush and the kind-hearted big sister of this wacky family. Kindness goes a long way…but the only person whom she isn’t always good at being kind to is herself. Her role in the story is integral. While racing, she can increase the attack strength of any power-up she uses by 100%.

Gloyd Orangeboar. The reserved, yet sensitive Halloween prankster who’s trying very hard to make a difference. He comes off as standoffish, but has a big heart that he struggles to expose. His special racing ability is giving the players increased protection against power-ups, though this slowly hints to be more than just a preprogrammed trait in his code.

Vanellope von Schweetz. The smooth-talking, street-smart former leader of Sugar Rush who returns to visit her native game after being alerted by Taffyta, springing her to action. Donning a slick leather jacket and other accessories from her new home, she remains very much a constant staple that Sugar Rush clings to. Throughout the story, she begins to realize how true this is and her surprisingly-deep and insightful conversations with certain characters hold significance that come to play later on. She’s the only racer without a special racing ability, though her glitching ‘teleportation’ powers seemed suitable enough for the arcade gamers.

Taffyta Muttonfudge. The current leader who took up the reins after Vanellope left. Though cocky and sarcastic, she cares for her friends immensely. Being the ruler of an entire game as expansive as Sugar Rush is no picnic of gumdrops and rainbows, and she’s struggling to follow Vanellope’s footsteps in order to be just as good a leader. Her confidence in this area is surprisingly low, yet maybe she’s being a bit too hard on herself. She’s the one who calls Vanellope over Ralph’s phone when disaster strikes and there’s no one left to turn to.

Fix-It Felix Jr. The hero of his titular game and the adoptive doting father of all the young colourful racers. Every Saturday night, the racers stay at his apartment for a giant sleep-over, but it looks like he and Calhoun will be spending tonight at Sugar Rush.

Jubileena Bing-Bing. The cheerful girl with a sweet heart of pure caramel gold. Her unfailing empathy and devotion to others may be the keys needed to unlocking the barricades when fear strikes her family from within.

Minty Sakura. A mysterious Japanese racer who makes extremely rare appearances in the game. Vanellope has never even met her before. She’s the silent kind of girl, but will speak up if needed. She unexpectedly shows up after not being seen for many years. Maybe like Vanellope, something called her out from the shadows to make sure that everyone’s okay.
