i always wonder how long you look for the right angle...
do you wait for the light to come or do you react to the light at that moment?

I always shoot either right at sunrise or at around 3 or four in the afternoon until its just about dark.
The shadows are always perfect for that time since almost all graves are buried in the same direction you always know where the light will be.
As far as the right angle.....I walk around the statue a few times until I catch the shot. I get on my knees if I have to.I have shot many graves by lying on the grave and shooting upward..
I tend to shoot statues as if you were shooting a portrait of a person......

Thank you for the question!

Beautiful. A testament to the sculptor and to you. The texture of the stone and the depth of the shadows makes this incredibly emotive!
