I was just wondering what type of paint and what brand of paint you use? they look great by the way.

Hi there
Thanks! I'm glad you like my alters I use a combination of acryllic and oil paints. I don't think the brand is too crucial, I just use whatever the art shop has. Some people are a bit fussier, I know 'Golden' is a very popular brand for doing alters with.
The ones I'm currently using are 'Windsor Newton'.

Best bet if you want to have a go is grab some commons and just have a play with some different paints and see what works best for you.

Let me know how you get on!

Whats the second effect?????? your alters shouldnt block most of the text 0.o ... i saw the nicol bolas one... got to say that was awesome

Thanks for your feedback Scotma. Interestingly there is no requirement for the text to be visible on a card (see the extended art textless promo's that Wizards give out), they're still perfectly legal in tournaments, the required elements are name, casting cost and power/toughness.

Glad you liked the nicol bolas

Found you on ebay and have to say i love your altering, i didnt realise they were legal till a few days ago.

I got the Garruk Wildspeaker Promo Planeswalker Card, I never understood how the planeswalkers worked either, so thanks for that.

Hi there
glad you like my alters, it's always nice to get feedback have you seen the Banefire alter I just put up?
I have a new Nicol Bolas Planeswalker in the works now too, it's going to be a little bit different, but hopefully fun.

Glad I could clear up how Planeswalkers work too!

Yup saw it on there, i really love the look of it, but its not really a card i use for my deck lol. I wouldnt wna paint on rare cards i be too scaredt o muck it up!

Ive altered a cloud sprite (common ) with sharpies, ive really gone off painting but im happy the way it is, i put it on DA soon.

I have not kept up with any cards for a long, long time... What do the numbers next to the effects mean?

Also, I'm loving your card-alterings. :3 Nice job.

hi there
thanks very much for the feedback

These are a relatively new card type called planeswalkers, the number in the bottom right refers to the number of counters they come into play with, and you add or remove counters to get the effects which you can play on your turn only. The number of counters on them also acts as a toughness like on creatures, and your opponent can choose to attack them instead of a player.

They're quite an interesting addition to the game, you can see full guidelines on how they work here:

That's very interesting. With some of those abilities, I think I'll stay away from many tournaments until I can get my hands on some of them.
Thanks for the info.
