- China surrenders. The Japanese set up no less than seven puppet states (State of Xinjiang, Xibei San Ma, Mongolian People's Republic, Empire of the Great Qing, Republic of China (reformed), Yunnan Clique, Greater Yue State) in its territory.
- The Japanese invade French Indochina, with other units launching smaller invasions of British Burma and Tibet. They also throw the British out of Taiwan.
