Description This is another stained glass piece I did just for funsies. I guess you don't see a lot of FanArt in stained glass, but I really like Gorillaz and Noodle is probably my favourite of the bunch. This is about eight inches across, and it belongs to .

Noodle isn't my character. She belongs to Mr. Hewlett.

Thanks! I'm glad you found this one - I was so proud of it when I made it because I'd had very little experience with stained glass to that point. ^_^ I did 2D and Russel as well...I guess I'd better do Murdoc one day so I can say I finished the set.

Thanks very much! Well, I think one good thing about this little series of FanArt stained glass is that it's pretty obvious I made the pattern myself, even if I need a bit of work on technique.

If that's your first stained glass, you're the greatest natural for it I've ever run into!

Oh, no - I'm a novice. I've gotten better lately, though - I'm doing lampshades and business-card holders and ceiling-fan pulls a lot more these days. When I teach stained glass, I try to explain that it's "for beginners". That big window with a cross in it in my Scraps was done by me and one of my students - it was the only project he wanted to do!

Aw, thanks very much! I guess you can tell I'm a big Gorillaz fan. I work in a lot of media because I used to teach in school, and you kind of have to know how to do a little of everything if you're a teacher!

I kind of got into Gorillaz backward - I knew about Jamie Hewlett's art from the Tank Girl days, so I wanted to see the videos. And then I thought, "Hey, the music's pretty good, too!"

I'm much more likely to listen to newer music than my teen-age daughter. She likes the old stuff - Beatles and Marlene Dietrich, for example. Not together, though. Wouldn't that be cool!?!

my girls are all around, they grew up hearing variety of mucic (from the oldies to the latest ones) though my younger daughter is into heavy rock (Metallica and Marilyn Manson??? not sure if i spelled that correctly)... i don't like some of the songs for the lyrics are so dirty (and the mtv too)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

theancientofdays In reply to j0rosa [2007-09-27 01:02:24 +0000 UTC]

A lot of that heavy metal is just ridiculous. Marilyn Manson is kind of goofy, but you're right - the words are so filthy that it takes away any other qualities the music might have. Which are pretty few to begin with, if you ask me...

Like I said before, I AM SO IMPRESSED. I dodn't even realize that people could do things like this. (Ehh ignorant...) I have just never thought of stained glass as being a medium in which you could do things like this. Please continue to do wirks like this. It's really obvious to me that you have talent, so please don't let yourself get discouraged.

The exhibition went poorly sales-wise, but the seminar was a lot of fun. I learned a lot about paint.

Oh, he is adorable! Too bad about the exhibition, I've had a few of those as well, and to be honest I am always puzzled by it So was the paint seminar about different kinds or brands of paint and their qualities?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

theancientofdays In reply to judylee [2007-05-08 10:43:39 +0000 UTC]

The seminar was (interestingly enough) about the history of paint - where the colours come from, how they made various colours out of what they had at hand and how synthetic colours were developed to replicate the natural ones. Like I never knew why it was "lamp" black. They scraped the goo from the sides of hurricane lamps to make the paint! And "ivory" black? Originally it was made from burnt ivory! It was really fascinating!
