I did look at a number of different Blackbeard images to get a basic idea. Plus considering that Pirates of the Caribbean played more to the legend of Blackbeard being a ruthless demon rather than more of a pacifist playing to a crowd that he really was it's not surprising.
Queen Chrysalis' Revenge?

Well she wouldn't need to be. The way I hear it, Blackbeard named his ship Queen Anne's Revenge due to his participation in Queen Anne's War (better known as War of Spanish Succession). Like many pirates he was either in the navy or a privateer before the war ended. So it may be possible that Blackmane fought for the Changelings, doesn't mean she had to be one.
My issue with Blackbeard in the film was that he gets set up as the most evil pirate ever with some kind of demonic powers and yet he is rarely seen in such a way. He's ruthless yes but the only real magic he uses is the voodoo doll and using his sword to control the ship.

And also now Barbossa is controlling the ship when the Black Pearl is back to Jack's control.

If Jack can figure out how to get it out of the bottle. Barbossa's a better captain anyway.

Anti-hero. Well, let's just say that Lone Ranger basically looks like a western Pirates of the Caribbean. I haven't watched it but that was just my first impression. Still want to watch it though cause let's face it, people don't like Disney but no one can really point out when they've gave a really shitty product.

They focus on live action so much in its channel, the cartoons became shitty. What's also worse is that Spongebob is gripping on the others, monopolizing till they die prematurely, like El Tigre only lasted 2 seasons and then it's axed. A cartoon with big potential and yet it's dead. That's why I find Nick & Disney had died in many people's hearts, CN is also another though when Scooby Doo is the only good show I watch from there.

Their channel panders to who they were supposed to. I meant more in terms of their films.

Flawed business practice, but EA do business practice far worse than Nick & Disney combine.
Speaking of their movies, I don't watch a lot of movies these days, so I can't comment much, other than that, I still enjoy Pixar's movies.

Well, Blackmane felt more like the alias that a mare would get considering most don't grow luscious beards and any nefarious stallion pirate worth his mettle would have a beard.

Probably. I could figure out other infamous pirates and ponify them somehow. Black Bart would be nice cause he was the most successful at the time despite his very short career, even making his own rules of piracy which were possibly more noble than Morgan's. William Kidd is definitely well remembered due to his legendary treasure. Steve Bonnet was the gentleman of pirates and he'd be interesting. Charles Vane was a complete and total asshat, completely ignored the pirate code and did what ever he felt like. Anne Bonney and Mary Read would be a fun duo considering they were very good at what they did and were the most famous female pirates. Though if I did them I'd have to do Calico Jack since they sailed with him. John Coxon was possibly the most famous Buccaneer and member of the Brethren of the Coast. Laurens de Graaf was thought to be the Devil in the flesh by the Spanish. Francois L'Olonnais was well known for his brutality. Henry Morgan was another infamous and successful pirate, hell the rum "Captain Morgan" is named after him. Aruj, or better known as Barbarossa (Redbeard) was a notorious Ottoman corsair. I could go on but you see there are many I could possibly do.

The1King In reply to AZ-Derped-Unicorn [2014-02-04 17:51:38 +0000 UTC]
Well considering he's just a pirate from fiction I think he'd be left out. Calico Jack, or John Rackham as was his real name, was really the real life inspiration for Jack Sparrow. Almost a complete knock off really. He was a womanizer, had a certain charm about him, preferred to use his trickery and wiles to beat opponents rather than overpower them and spent most of his life drunk.

When I was a kid I read a lot about pirates, especially the Golden Age of Piracy so you can imagine how I just jumped in joy when Ubisoft made Black Flag. It was awesome, especially considering they made the pirates as close to how they really were as they could. The Assassins Creed series has been good about not romantisizing too much and having it be good Historical Fiction.

I don't like drawing them. Flintlocks are simple enough but guns aren't my thing. I prefer pre-gun powder weapons. There's a finer elegance to them and they require better skills to use. Anyone can pick up a gun, point and shoot. Sure aim takes practice but compared to swords, axes, bow and arrows, etc. they are the easy road.

It was the most original idea I could think of when it came to having Blackbeard in Equestria that would work.
