From Black Gate MUX (an online, text-based rpg) AU versions of Sakura (which I've submitted to this gallery before) and Ino. Both have found themselves on a new world called Nondoleur, or more commonly referred to as 'The Shadowlands'. Sakura has been living in this world for 6 years now, having been kidnapped during the second Chuunin exam. Ino is only newly arrived and under the circumstances of a bungled wedding between her and Shikamaru (or is it better to say 'interrupted attempt'?)Anyway, just playing with constume concepts. These are just ideas for their desert wear. They'll likely find themselves all over the map. I play Sakura up as liking her fashionable clothing. I doubt Ino would be far behind, though all those years spent with Shikamaru probably influenced her choices.
Drawn while watching Iron Chef America on my b-day. Graphite and some Photoshop retouch.

*chuckles* It's a shame. Those ninja girls rarely see much action. I have a feeling Ino could really kick ass given the chance. She's glanced over so often.

That's a really creative setting to put the girls in since we don't get to see them in action much in the series. (Overshadowed!) I like how you bring them into the spotlight in this case especially now that they're independent in a new world.
Sakura's design looks very fitting for exploration; in the back of my head, I keep thinking she could do some bounty hunting. Is that a board? Sandboarding?
Ino's hair is preeetttyyyy. Interesting how she's less loaded with equipment than Sakura, is that because she's a 'newbie' in the new world?
I'd love to see you do more with this, you make Ino and Sakura much more likable. No need for Sasuke-kun here!

Thank you! Yeah, putting them in an environment like this really gives them a chance to shine, even if they aren't completely alone. They have a chance to make a niche for themselves in the world which gives them a greater standing than having to constantly play 'catch up' to the standards of other team members who seem to get more time in the spotlight.
Sakura's design has more equipment because she's been there longer, yes. In fact, she's been there for six years, having joined a faction of Desert Vigilantes called 'The Gunslingers'. In all the other ninja's absence, Sakura's developed a style of 'Gun-Fu' even if she hasn't much advanced her jutsus. She's taken up sandboarding for quicker mobility in the desert alone, and she's just more generally outfitted for survival in that world. ^_^ (She has to be, they generally run into very powerful zombies here... *cough*)
Ino travels lighter than Sakura in general though. For all Sakura's flares of anger, she's, over the years, become much more emotionally tempered than Ino, who still has her 'Ino-zilla' moments as her player likes to call them
Sasuke-kun is still on that world, and it's funny you should mention it. When he and Sakura met up again after so many years, she determined that she didn't need him around, but it was a nice security to have him there. She still very much loves him and as Ino and Shikamaru have been engaged (thanks to Shika's dad tricking him while playing Shougi) Ino's actually taken the very mature step of conceding the Sasuke rivalry ....for now. So, Sakura's won ^^

I have no plans to do so, really. I may or may not. I already have several projects lying around half-finsihed, though. I may make another illustration based on these designs, though. Ino-player seems to like what I've done here.
