But the question is: can the blade be sheathe back tho the bracelet? If not, for me this tutorial is useless. A true hidden blade must can be draw and be put back to hidden position. And I know about models ofhidden blades able to do so.

The basics of this device are great, and improvements can be made for dual action. I like the simplicity of it. Great design

shame you didn't figure out how to make it retract via the cord like it works in the game

nothing like reviving an old comment thread but ideally how much would it cost for you to produce say... 10 of these encase them, and have them fully functioning?

Had an idea to retract it with a pull string. Attach a second spring that tightens when the blade is out, and have the spring hooked up to a second pull cord that would release the catch and at the same time release the tension in the second spring, thus making the blade more like the one in the games.

It's good in theory. I tooled with that idea. Only the strength of the second spring would have to exceed the strength of the first in order to pull the blade back in. But that wouldn't allow the blade to shoot forward at all. The one I'm designing now has a floating chassis that has a catch release on both sides, and once it's pushed to a certain point it will eject both backwards and forwards. Hoping to finish it soon, thanks for the tip though.

I swear all the designs use a drawer slide.
Did get teachers permission to make this in my metals class, as long as I provide the correct parts.

I will make one of these without a doubt. Only slightly afraid to attempt it because I have literally zero experience in this sort of thing, but I have to make one of these. Two things I want to have answered though.
1) How much would the supplies for this cost.
2) Any idea what you could use to make a casing to protect the mechanism, just some metal case to separate it from something like a sleeve, because it seems like the sleeve of a shirt could jam some of the bits and bobs.

The-Midnight-Angel In reply to Xarcxes [2012-02-13 00:34:44 +0000 UTC]
Hey hey. The parts will cost between $20 and $30 total. And yes you can encase the mechanism. You may have to play with the design a bit to make it work for you. Hope this helps.

Hey, just a suggestion, but if you made this in a "kit" form, and sold it, you could make some serious money.
