If you had a PSP, you could see Aeris alive in the recently released FF7 Crisis Core.
Did ya know that FF9 was the "longest" Final Fantasy ever? Game time would average out to be 95 hours.

Agreed. Not only was she a beloved character from the start, but she was also the game's best magic user. You the maximum effect out of materia when she equiped them and her "Limit Breaks" were all either defensive of healing effect. but in the end, had she not died, the game wouldnt have been completed. It was essecial to the storyline. Thankfully, Aeris will be alive and well in the upcoming release of Crisis Core.

Aeris lives!!
Crisis Core is out now (US version). Got mine at Game crazy a few hours ago. I'm not that far into it but I think I can safely say it's probably the best $40 I've spent this year.

Technically it's the 25th. However, on a whim, I stopped at a Game Crazy and they had it in stock.

Oh. Is it true that ya have to play a 3-slot just to level up(source: Game Informer.)

It's called the DMW (digital mind wave). Yeah, basically a slot machine.
The DMW also determines when you get a limit break, when your materia levels up, and it awards special battle specific bonuses, such as a boost in defense or extra oomph in your attacks.
Eventually, you get materia which effects the odds of getting certain outcomes on the DMW.

kind of a stupid concept if ya ask me. Like doing the slots for Cait Sith in FF7 wasnt bad enough.

Yeah, the FF franchise has some sort of love affair with casino gambling atyle attacks (remember Setzer?)
I've only played CC for about an hour before I had to come to work - really just screwing around with it more than anything. Maybe it's not as bad as it seems. The little memory/flashback scenes when chars line-up is kind of cool though.

I was thinking more along the lines of the "Battle Arena" from FF7's Gold Saucer.
