Oroboros Fish - Neochanna Oroboros

Named after the snake-symbol, the oroboros fish is a mudfish that lives in swampy areas in the southern United States and parts of Mexico. They are the largest species of lungfish on record and are most known for their tail-appendage. It is dexterous enough to grab the various swamp vegetation it likes to eat. However, the tail makes the oroboros fish a weak swimmer. It prefers to wade about in shallow water.

Despite its large and frightening appearance, these fish are usually pretty docile. The only time they get aggressive is when under attack or during spawning season. The males will grow large, lumpy growths all around its head that secrete a foul-smelling musk during this time. They will attack anything they can feel without discretion due to being completely blind.

They are also noted for being intelligent fish. Lab tests have shown these fish are clever problem solvers-- about the same level as crows.
