I'm trying to study the realistic effect one gets in portraits in oil, the ones that look almost photographic from some distance, ansd when one gets near one can see the brushstrokes.

I tried to put in the details that I felt were necessary to focus on the character, letting the viewer's brain do the work for the background and secondary elements, it's hard going, but the journey is really interesting
