Description Hehehe excuse me while I feel very witty for my title.
Third attempt at closeup of the eyes. Eyes have been overdone I know but I just have to do it. I think my skill has improved considerably. Yay me!

for the beautiful tones and the lights/shadows play!
The only fault is the overexposure in the butterfly's highlights.

thank you for your help...i have problems with lighting, i use my table lamps and i'm not so sure how to tone down the lights because they are so harsh...i think i need to look into diffusing the light or reflecting it off a shiny surface

thank you for the fav, it's very encouraging

temporary-peace In reply to th3rdeye [2006-04-18 19:19:15 +0000 UTC]

If your camera has such setting, try compensating the exposure by -0.5 or -1.

Or try that trick with half-pressing the shutter while focusing on the highlights (usually, cameras focus on the center of the scene by default) and then move the camera to frame the subject and press the shutter fully. Of course, this trick won't work with selfportraiture

faving was my pleasure

oh oops, i just realised that i sounded like i was fishing for a compliment. i wasn't haha i honestly thought you hadn't realised. *sheepish*

ashigaru In reply to th3rdeye [2006-03-04 20:23:48 +0000 UTC]

You worry too much.

The compliment was genuine. You do look awesome. And I was actually fishing for the confirmation that it was you.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

th3rdeye In reply to ashigaru [2006-03-05 04:20:49 +0000 UTC]

methinks i'm just not accustomed to compliments...and perhaps i'm too selfconscious...haha you know..it's kinda like the feeling of having someone waving in your direction, but you're not sure whether they're waving at you, and if you wave back and realise it was a mistake...that embarrassing feeling....

hmmm...i'm not sure if that was an accurate analogy

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ashigaru In reply to th3rdeye [2006-03-05 10:27:09 +0000 UTC]

I understand your analogy... very aptly put.

To relieve your fears, then I'll tell you this: I am waving to you, sending you a smile and compliments. No strings, no entanglements... simply seeing beauty, and acknowledging the same.

I hope you have a blessed day.

Any day lived in His will is a blessed day

you know...except for the occasional deviant...everyone on DA is just so nice...i don't know what it is about the virtual environment that just seems to bring out the inherently nice side of people.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ashigaru In reply to th3rdeye [2006-03-05 20:18:32 +0000 UTC]

We have our darker sides as well. We've only just met; I've yet to show mine to you.

I feel that this environment is a place people *want* to have community, and form a society. In such they eventually (and rapidly) learn that being polite, friendly and cooperative brings great rewards in terms of friendship, conversation and even relationships that extend into the "real world" (which most people don't seem to understand that this *is* the real world, only a small facet of it!) Those that harm, anger or even simply become irritants are quickly shunned or even attacked virtually (society will self police, regardless of perceived "authority". This is true outside the internet as well.)

Much as in life, you'll find that except for the occasional person, people are generally nice to one another if you give them the chance to, and are generally nice to them. It's the design facet of this "virtual" society that forces people to communicate that is a big difference in face-to-face contact; in this world, to be seen, is to communicate. If someone doesn't communicate here, they are totally invisible, simply another hit on the page.

I am glad we are not invisible to one another.
