This concept was almost done whole year ago, I just finished few little monsters around. In the first stage the idea was more built but I think I lost motivation to it. Anyway I still work on the technical concept of the beast.

I am getting to a place where I can probably start modeling this thing. I was pretty serious a while back about it. its THAT good. Would you mind helping me a bit on some artistic interpretations of this guy?

well, theres a few things... have you done any character boards for 3d artists yet by chance?
the neck is the first thing im curious about. im an animator before a modeler, and i model based on a characters anatomy. imagination and fudging only gets you so far, you know? so the neck, im assuming it bends, so would it have stone cross-sections in the neck in segments, kind of like Colossus? if it doesnt matter, thats fine too, i can make it look cool regardless
I would also like to know how the shoulder assembly works too. we can kinda start with those two things if thats ok.

Was this inspired by the guardian creature in that old, Eldorado cartoon, or are both based off some myth from the culture? (aztec/mayan don't look at me I have a bad memory) Either way I think yours are prettier. They also look like they fit into the culture better.

Yes, this is based on the Aztec/Mayan culture. I tried to inspire myself with their drawings, partsof buildings but mostly I tried to draw my own ones (those 3 to the right side). And you are right, I was very inspired with that cartoon as well, especialy all those red colors of the buildings. Then I thought the place needs some good guardians there
