Description Told you that I would update soon, not with normal artwork, that comes soon enough, but with something else in mind. Because guess what I saw Wednesday?

Yep, went to the Midnight showing of The Last Airbender, and I have to say that even though it wasn't the best movie in the world, it wasn't horrible. It was actually a bit better than I thought it would be. I mean c'mon. It wasn't trying to be the series, and I'm sure M.Night didn't want to copy it. Still, of course, there were a few things that I didn't enjoy, which went back to the cutting that M.Night had to do due to time and what not.

(One thing I hated was that they cut out Iroh's "You've always been like a son to me." to Zuko. BLAST IT!)

But I have to say, while I didn't expect it to be mind-blowing, it was fun for what it was. And I've been seeing a lot of The Last Airbender reaction stamps around DA lately, and most are negative, so I decided to make one that was basically positive but with an open mind about the movie. There were a lot of things that I did enjoy. Most included.

-Every Irko scene. Those were AMAZING. Expect some fanart based on the movie Irko soon enough!

-Noah, Cliff and the person playing Zhao. They did GREAT. Twus' fun to watch.

- The sets and all the background stuff. Beautiful.

- AZULA. Just...Azula.

- The opening.

- The slight Ursroh reference line by Zuko near the end of the movie. But I'm not saying a word.

- Dev and Shaun...just...just..Dev and Shaun. Ho'crap man.

See? A lot of things that made the 103 enjoyable for me. So if you went in to see The Last Airbender with "An open mind and a open heart", and came out not hating it as many people did, but enjoyed it for what it was. Then this stamp is for you!

So yeah, comments and faves are loved, of course. But don't bash me for my opinion. Yes, I really liked the movie and I'm going back to see it again very soon. So enjoy the stamp and tell me what you think!

-----
The Last Airbender is copied to M.Night, and not me. I only own the rights to this stamp and nothing else. Avatar: The Last Airbender is owned by Bryke and not me as well. But I'm sure you already know this. No suing please.

YES.
YES.
AND MORE YES.

And I'd like to add, that the kid playing as Aang, Noah Ringer, was SO adorable. * u*

I really loved how his airbending tattoos were intricate and more to the Tibetan culture.

And while I don't really on some things, like the skin colors/races, bending tactics, name pronunciations...and the like, I still really enjoyed the movie. I don't compare it to the series. I like to think of it a little as a kind of Alternate Universe. C8

Wow, I left ou the word "agree". How'd that happen? 8/

Lol. But yeah, while I do agree that every person is entitled to their own opinion, I can't help but feel some people need to be slapped for being so rude or close minded. Like the people saying Noah Ringer was a horrible Aang. He might not look 100% Asian, But he's got big brown eyes, he's a kid, he was a great actor (especially it being his first acting experience), and he had the wide, adorable smile from the series.

I could analyze every character, but I don't want to start anything crazy like a debate or flaming. I do wish at least that they would have made the scar more prominent on Dev for Zuko. Since he has darker skin, it's more difficult to see the redder/pinker tones. And without professional FX/FX makeup you can easily hide an eyebrow while making it seem like it's not there at all. And I would have rather of seen Zuko being mostly bald with his topknot-ponytail. It was my favorite version of him...and I will always mourn the loss of the crazy Fire Nation sideburns.

But I have to say...I loved Iroh's dreads/hair/beard. And AU-y enough, Zuko's new, perpetually wide eyed stare. I didn't think I would enjoy something so much, but oh my it makes him look so much more vulnerable that it made my heart soar. xD

And the amount of sadism creeping up in Zhao. UNF--

The bending all looked great to me (most people pick on the Earthbending scene, but they seem to forget that there was more to that scene than just the little rock throwing), except for the ice with the waterbending. That looked pretty fake to me at most/some parts. But other than that the movie was still fabulous to its own right. I could talk about this for a good while (mainly because there's hardly EVER anyone who accepts the movie enough to talk about it with me), but I need to stop my rambles.

YES. YES. YES.

Thank you so very very very very very very much for having this stamp.

Honestly, I JUST saw the movie last night (Not wanting to see it after EVERY friend of mine told me not to) and I actually LIKED it. I mean, of course there's flaws. There's always flaws. I'm not going to sit here and compare the movie with the series, though. I see them as completely different things and I don't see why I can't like both.

>0 In fact, I was actually YELLED at by a friend of mine who found the movie to be "repulsive" and then began naming all the flaws. One of which was the fact that Firebenders couldn't bend without a fire source. I actually found this interesting since they made Sozin's Comet a HELL of a lot more interesting. Instead of the Firebenders just getting "More Powerful" They get the ability that FEW have.

I hated the movie I don't know, there were just too many bad decisions for me to find it enjoyable. They didn't at all expand on the Avatar State so the entire ending of the film probably flew over the heads of people who had never seen the show. Nor did they explain that spirit world dragon... hell, that one confused me.

Some of their performances seemed so wooden as well, namely Noah as Aang... he seemed to have an expression of perpetual bewilderment plastered across his face for the entire film And Sokka spoke with such a furious intensity! Like his lines were racing to get out of his mouth.
Speaking of the lines, I agree with what you said about them taking out Iroh's line about Zuko being like his son. They didn't take any quotes from the show. Just a little "A man needs his rest" or "I don't need any of your calming tea!" would have been enough to make me squeal in cinema.

It wasn't completely without its good points though. You're right, the art direction was brilliant and the costumes were perfect. The Aang and Gyatso flashback scenes were pretty cute as well, and it was good that they were placed throughout the film. Those just weren't enough to save it for me though

Lovely rant! I loved everything you said! And in regards to the Spirit dragon, they kind of combined Roku with his dragon Fang. Confusing and silly, but I guess they had to do it. AND I KNOW RIGHT. THE LACK OF IRKO MADE ME ANGRY. X_X They didn't even keep "I think of you as my own" ASDFGH. HOW. DO. YOU. NOT. KEEP. THAT. LINE. X_X

And yeah, I wish there would've been more to save the movie. Just...there wasn't. Either way, glad you enjoy my opnioins. Thanks again!!

The movie to me was mediocre at best. But that was mostly because I never saw the show before the movie.
And it was what got me interested in the show.

JasonRyder [2011-01-23 04:49:24 +0000 UTC]

I didn't like it. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good either. Most of the actors didn't fit their roles and the Fire Nation troopes need more red. The plot wasn't very well written either. The thing i hated the most was..... WHERE IS THE SARCASM AND MEAT!!!!!!!!!!!?????!!!!!!!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Terrafan4242 In reply to JasonRyder [2011-03-26 09:17:24 +0000 UTC]

Nice point. It wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worse. And personally, I believe that the only good actors were Shaun and Dev. They did Zuko and Iroh quite well.

And well, for the sake of the SERIOUSNESS of the story, they had to tone Sokka down. Yeah, I hated it too.

I'm so using this stamp! I prefer the series better, but when I said aloud I didn't dislike the movie some fans almost got to my throat. Why on earth? I wasn't even saying it was good... I just said I enjoyed it. I don't understand why people can show some respect on others opinions...

Thanks!!!

I prefer the series as well, but I'm glad you enjoyed the movie regardless of it! And I know, that seems to happen to me as well. I liked the movie too, but when the fans of the series hear that, they think I'm not a true fan or something. Stupid. But thank you for the support! Much appreciated!

23-tiny-wishes [2010-11-24 10:57:13 +0000 UTC]

I agree. I didn't expect it to be great. It's directed AND written by M. Knight Shamylah(?). But it was still enjoyable. I was kinda disapointed in bits though. The whole giant tidal wave thing and not dropping it on the Fire Nation. That disapointed me. But the start was cool. Not as cool as the TV show but still cool. Teh Moon Princess was epic. Sokka was kinda more angsty than funny. But he was still cool. Katara was okay...Aang was epic! The one thing that really got me was the whole in order to do bending of any description you had to stand there and do lots and lots of movements to get something tiny to happen.
But apart from that it was good! OMG and Momo was there.

I absolutely loved it! (So did my dad and cousin) I was too busy fangirling to notice the dodgy dialogue and I actually enjoyed the whole narration thing that everyone seemed to hate. The ten earthbenders throwing one rock thing was a bit stupid... but the rest of the action scenes were great.

Dev Patel IS Zuko (perfect angry jerk who needs a hug). Jackson was awesome. Iroh is... Iroh. Zhao was... a little disappointing. He was a great jerk just not a great evil villain. (He doesn't have a voice like Jason Issacs for one)

I was a little annoyed because the 3d projector in the cinema broke and we had to swap our brilliant tickets for 2d right up the front.

But the movie was made of win. Gonna see it again the 3d!

I'm glad that you enjoyed it so much! And so was I, I hardly noticed some of the silly dialogue that the critics and what not have complained about. I bet when the DVD comes out, I'll notice, but still. And ha! I agree, Zuko and Iroh fit their roles so perfectly!

And I hope you enjoy it again in 3D as well! Thank you for the comment!

In fact I only watched one season of the anime but the film encouraged me to watch it completely ^^ I was expecting it to be bad [just for the comments of the people] but I came out of the cinema acting like a fangirl telling my boyfriend the few things I know about the anime.

Yeah, I agree, the kids playing the roles were great, looked dead-on (wondered about how the Uncle was so different lol) and the effects were amazing!
