You only meet Calpernia (and unlock her codex entry) in Inquisition if the player sides with the Templar by completing "Champions of the Just". Otherwise, she remains locked out of the game. Without spoiling anything, she is a Tevinter mage loyal to Corypheus. Her story is pretty cool (and sad), I think!

because my Hawke was a mage... and their plight is pretty uhm... outspoken.
But I like the Templars too....hmmm
So does this mean if you choose the Templars, Samson is not your enemy? O.o

Yup, Samson is only your enemy if you side with the mages, like in your playthrough. His story mission ("Before the Dawn") is replaced with Calpernia's story mission ("Under Her Skin") when you help the Templar. So you learn about her instead of Samson before meeting her at the Temple of Mythal in the later story missions.

What about DORIAN? he was essential in the siding with the mages thing! Does he even join you if you side with the Templars??

The companions are the same no matter who you side with, Dorian just joins you under different circumstances when you help the mages. The same goes for Cole, who you first meet under different conditions if you side with the Templar.

I kinda thought Cole would be there for Corypheus's invasion no matter what...

Dorian approaches you at Haven when Corypheus marches his army of mages to destroy the Herald (similar to how Cole showed up). As for Cole, I'm not sure because I haven't played a Templar walkthrough but I think you meet him in Therinfal Redoubt (the Templar Castle).
