I really love this peice. You did a great job. Prismacolors are great if you know how to use them xP If you dont mind me asking I own prismacolors as well, when your useing them do you color with the darks first then make your way with the lighter colors, or the other way arround?

I actually did this a long time ago (I don't own any Prismacolors, so I had to steal 'em from my art teacher), but if I remember correctly, I went dark first. Then I went over everything except for the white reflections with the lighter colors.
This was the first time I'd ever used Prismacolor markers, though, so please don't take my method too seriously.

Oh I wasn't going to take it too seriously xD. I was just wondering because Im trying different ways on useing the markers, I liked how you had colored with them, and was just curious.
You stole them from your art teacher?! xD lol

Hi. I was looking at people who do Prismacolor marker art like myself, and I was wondering how did you get that effect on the hair? Especially on the pony tail. You got several shades of brown and even some grey it looks like.
Also on her face and how did you d the shading on the pants was spectacular! 8D
Do you use the blending marker? If so, how do YOU personally use it? Dx
Sorry for all of the questions, I would just really like to know how to improve my artwork. x3

I used the blending marker only on the pale parts of the picture, like her skin. The marker set I was using only didn't have many pale colors, so I just chose the lightest color I could find and blended the edges into the white as best as I could.
The hair and pants were done using two colors each, and the white of the paper. First I laid out the most shadowed part using the darkest color. Then I planned out where I wanted the light reflected. I kept that part of the paper white and went over the rest of the area with the lighter color (even over the dark color). This made the darker color bleed into the lighter color. I added a little extra of the lighter color over the edges of the dark color to help it blend better.
Hope I helped! It was the first time I ever used Prismacolor markers, so I kind of just winged it.

what did you outline her with? because i'm going to order some prismacolor markers (well, using the money I got from my birthday) and i have never used them before.

I originally outlined her in pencil because it doesn't bleed. You could outline your work with bleed-proof pens like sakura micron, you could stick with pencil, or you could re-outline your work after you finish coloring with pens or on a computer program. Prismacolor tends to bleed a lot and smooth shading is difficult. They're pretty cool to use, though, and a totally different experience than normal markers.
Thanks!

Inked in Open Canvas, using your standard pencil tool. All the colors were done by hand, with prismacolor markers, then I altered them a bit after I put it on the comp. I don't have a scanner, so all my colors fade and end up wierd...
Thanks for the fav!

Grrrr... for some reason, when I posted this, my reduced-size images were refusing to load. So I could only see my pic after I clicked on it... before that, all I got was a grey box with the deviantART logo in it, plus, when I was trying to submit it, it wouldn't show up... aaaargh.
