Description Card 19. The Sun - Nyarlathotep

The Sun card of the recently completed Major Arcana of my Dreamlands Tarot Deck, based upon the Dreamlands Cycle of HP Lovecraft, with particular inspiration by "The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath". Minor Arcana to be completed over the next few months. They are of course incomplete verisions, without borders, numbers, and titles.

Nyarlathotep's third and final appearance in the Dreamlands Major Arcana, this time in his capacity as revelator.

The symmetrical balance works really well here - and all of the tentacly details are just gorgeous. Another favorite, for sure.

The Nyarlathotep cards were some of my favorites to work on during the Major Arcana project. I'd decided at the start that Nyar would appear as the Magician, the Devil, and the Sun, and to stagger out the cards while I was working so that they'd be almost the "rewards" for finishing up other cards, since Nyar's always a pleasure to draw. I thought that a more symmetrical appearance for the Sun card would suit the idea best, I'm pleased you think it did work out.
