Words, intent and components were skillfully woven together in the greatest of gestures: magic. Summoned creatures great and small materialized in preparation for this, the final, decisive battle. Feathers and claws, fang and instinct; such were the weapons to be used against the rising tide of Legion, who threatened to imprison the Realms in unquestioning chains of darkness; an enslavement to evil through the deprivation of hope and free will itself, a forced enshrouding of the gifts of the Light.

This is also inspired by spiritual (or maybe psychological) and political themes. I consider a modern manifestation of evil to be the obfuscation of free will to choose good. This can be accomplished through any number of means, whether though constantly piping negative media to the populace and darkening the general worldview, or keeping people so taxed or harried by basic concerns that it removes their bandwidth or capacity for higher reasoning.
