This english speaker learned both versions.. In kindergarden we learned 'O Tannenbaum' as an example of German, and 'Frère Jacques' for French. ^_^;;

We're getting quite a few hints that he's jewish, anyway...Not only is Mordecai Heller a very Jewish name, but in this particular comic he uses a Hebrew greeting - "Chag sameach" which pretty much translates into "happy holidays". He also always wears a very business-like attire, something commonly associated with Jews in that era as they were usually very distinguished people.
That, and Tracy says he's a Jew, hehe *that pretty much beats any hints, doesn't it?*
