Depending ont he fiction, Unicron is either the same asge as, or Older than Primus. The particular fiction I like myself is the one where Unicron descended into the Universe as a fallen God and proceeded to consume it before going into slumber, but when he awoke another Universe had formed and he began to devour that, the new Universe sensing the threat created Primus as a counter-measure to Unicron.

G1 is the only exception to there being two. G1 Unicron was made by Primacron near the beginning of the universe as a means through witch Primacron may conquer and reshape the universe in his image but Unicron wanted that power for himself and decided to rebel, Primus simply does not exist.
